THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO TEACH OTHERS ( such as myself) that have a strong desire to portray an image in such a way as you have in this tutorial video. I have tried to get this REAL LOOK, yet had no idea of THE PROCESS. Having all the RIGHT TOOLS, BUT NOT KNOWING HOW TO PROPERLY UTILIZE THEM...WASTED TIME AND MONEY. This is excellent so far! Really appreciate having such an in depth look into every step. I've gotten turned off from drawing tutorials in the past because it often felt like they were skipping many details. This one makes me feel like I could really produce something worthwhile by the end.

No, the idea is to build up to it with your pencils.Build gradations from light to darkest while at the same time extending it out. Eventually, you will cover the entire area with value.

You can also use a darker pencil and focus on the pressure you put on the drawing.

When you can't get anymore value out of the pencil without having to bare down too hard on it. In other words, you can only use a 2h pencil so long before it won't get any darker. Then you move up to your next pencil IE: HB to extend the value out.

With the 4H, do you lay down tone on the entire face or do you let the paper show through at all?

I got the thing how to make a layout of a still pic . But I want to know how to draw the portrait of a person who is sitting in front . Can u upload a video ? If already have then pls post the link .
