You are the best portrait photographer I have ever seen. I wish you could take a picture of my father and my wife, but we will probably never meet. My mother was unalived last year and I also don't have any pictures of her. Once people are gone, you realize how important photos are because that's all you will have when they are gone.

I went from a Canon 6D and 3 L lenses to a Oly EM5mkii with an Oly 12-40 2.8 and Lumix 35-100 2.8. I took senior portraits on my son and his girlfriend with the 35-100 and was absolutely blown away by the results even after blowing it up to 24 X 16. The colors and details were amazing. All one has to do is know the tool and use it correctly. For me that means that if I want results like a 85mm on a full frame, I shoot 85mm on M43 and stand back twice the distance. You have shared wonderful photos from M43 which may surprise many--but they don't surprise me.

My journey in photography started with 0M1 in the seventies so I naturally gravitated into the Olympus 4/3 with digital and used various iterations for years in Papua New Guinea, mostly with portraiture, weathered the derision for the medium from many quarters and time has prove it unfounded. Thanks for your presentation your work affirms everything I have always thought.

I agree Ben. My first mirrorless camera was the GF1, back in 2010. I got really into it, I bought some vintage Berthiot lenses in an old camera shop in Paris and adapted them Micro 4/3 - C-mount. Beautiful unique results, awesome monochrome and artistic feel for shooting. I still love shooting with that camera and the lenses, it's just pure joy. Those early Lumix cameras were a revolution.

Ah man, my first mirrorless camera was the Olympus EPL1. I learned everything on that camera. Depth of field, Sunny 16, zone focusing…. And much more. Brilliant little camera. Beautiful portraits presented here. Found this quite enjoyable. I’m fed up with my work and direction at the moment, and this has given me some ideas.

How can i edit like that. Your pictures have so much freaking character and life. I can feel the emotions from the subjects, and the way you edit your black and white is so well balanced. I love your work and would love to see how you edit your pictures or do you have presets that you've made throughout the years.

I dont really know. The connection to the subject is the most important thing. Even if it’s a brief encounter. How you interact. I pay close attention to the contrast ratios when I edit. Don’t have any presets. Maybe I should finally make some…. But I probably won’t. Thank you.

I like the PanaLeica 25mm f/1.4 and the 12-32mm pancake zoom, which looks like junk but is a really great lens. With the 12-32, many M43 cameras are as pocketable as they are with the 20mm or 14mm prime. The cameras are great too, although I've never had a GH2. And I laugh when I try M43s after using my D2X and a zoom.

I think the more obvious question should really be, do we as photographers really need large high density sensors for portraiture, street photgraphy, editorial or even landscape photography? If we could put a lid on our desire to succumb to G.A.S and the new is always better and more mega pixel makes a better photographer, then the answer is a resounding NO, we don't need them. The proof is this video. Thank you. PS: Your C-Mount lens reminded me of when I put my 75mm F2 Apo-Summicron M on my Olympus EM1 MKII ( think of it as an Apo lens of 150mm F2 ). I only took a few stills photos of some dried flowers which were backlit, but man wide open @ F2 I could cut a piece of paper with that rendition. It was that sharp. MFT cameras are hugely versatile.

Awesome. I’ve known John for over 2 decades. Met him on this big Nick Cage film.

Thanks for watching Andy. Nothing special about my settings. Shoot raw. Keep it simple.

These are almost all available light. I pay close attention to where the light is coming from when I frame a shot.

@@adventureStaley hah! Clearly I was overthinking the obvious 😂 Thank you kindly for replying 🙏 and absolutely breathtaking images. I hope to one day gain the confidence to take portraits, regardless of if the results end up half as good as yours. Beautiful 👌

Sensor size is a personal preference, technical arguments are pointless. I shoot FF because I come from 35mm, I just like all my cameras to act & feel the same. I but just bought my son a Fuji xt-30 II to learn manual photography. Not sure why we are so judgmental about the tools artists use. I’ve never heard anyone get church lady about the brushes Monet used.

Noooooo, don't tell M43 is awesome, if this video goes viral, the second hand lenses will cost a lot more. Just say like every YT that m43 is dead!😂 I have an EM 5, Pen F and some EPL. I ve got the lumix 20mm, the panaleica 15mm and the sigma 56mm 1.4, I've got also the 75mm 1.8 (amazing). I find the DoF an advantage: a portrait at 1.4 has a lot more DoF then FF, so both eyes are in focus.
