The designer of the Santa Justa Elevator in Lisbon was Raoul Mesnier de Ponsard. Portuguese born in Porto. And never was a Disciple or worked for Gusttave Eiffel!! Besides is French name. He was a Proud Portuguese!! Olivais, Lisboa, Portugal. Proud to be Portuguese!! Orgulho de ser Português O.T.OLIVAIS

Sounds like my kind of living my friend. My wife of 46 yrs Lovely Linda & I were seriously thinking of moving permanently to North Central Portugal. Then we started having health issues. The Portuguese culture seems to be more about GOD,FAMILY, & LOVE OF NEIGHBOR. My sister as well thought about it.Thank you for these positive post my friend. Arnold Bourbon Amaral.

It might be ...I’ve lived here for 20 months and I’m still buying South African wines in Apolonia! I can’t stand Portuguese wine..... (though I accept many other more knowledgeable people say otherwise)
