Retired to Portugal :) got out before Brexit, so have residency. You sort of said it all when you said "Pint of Sagres for 2.50". Yup. 3 years in ... loving it. There are 'considerations' to make, and as you say, you get what you pay for regarding accommodation, and the food can be reasonably mundane unless you search it out. But prices are very good generally and the life style is best described as chilled, or super chilled :) People are super friendly and there is a lot of interpersonal respect, which makes a nice change. It's not Spain... and that for me is good.
I can't thankyou enough Kevin for your vlogs and your lives , your mishaps and your adventures together with the most unbelievable deals , hail rain or shine you have the balls to just go with it , the honesty the humility, the truth and your vlogs are becoming longer , thank god for that 😜,I am buzzing for you and what you are showing us viewer's ,you have thoroughly enjoyed Portugal, as we all have watching , I've never fancied Portugal personally, but after watching your vlogs I'm in process of booking up 👍❤️
geordie gig ::the best chilling out was sitting on the the sol e mar hotel balconyl in the evening just looking out to sea,, absolutely beautiful,,jd in one hand and the missus on the other absolutely love albufeira keep up the good work kev...
Hi Kevin. Watched every video from Portugal., loved them,Albufeira looks amazing. Very lively at night. Thanks for showing different places to visit. Keep up the good work. Cheers pal.
@@ScotsmaninTenerife what part of Tenerife would you recommend for couples, nice beaches and restaurants? After an atmosphere but not too rowdy! Cheers
Hi.Monte Gordo is a small quite beach resort near to the Spanish border. The great advantage is that it's completely walkable and totally on the flat, just like all the resorts east of Faro. West of Faro most resorts are on hills so not great for anyone with walking difficulties. Portugal in general is far quieter that Spain or Tenerife and usually attracts a more mature type of tourist. Enjoy your trip.
Love the videos good man for giving people an insight into what Portugal is like, it looks stunning. We are going as a family of six on the 25th of June and I cant wait it will be my first visit
Hi kev a great video and very informative as usual the rooms in the hotel were pretty basic but acceptable looked pretty busy plenty to see and do lots of bars lve never been to Portugal it's always been Spain or Greece lve alse been to Bulgaria and Turkey but having watched your videos Portugal appeals to me especially some of the scenes from your last video it looks very much my kind of place for my next holiday hopefully coming soon in the meantime kev keep up with your great work and don't forget to keep those excellent videos of yours coming which I'm very much looking forward to seeing Thank you Kevin greetings from Swansea South Wales
We went to Albufeira about 5 or 6 times a few years back, and, to be honest, we thought that was us done with it. Had some great holidays there in the new and old towns, but the last time we were there in the new town, the strip had gone downhill. People were being sick in the street, (or worse), throwing food about restaurants, fighting, the whole lot, and it was never like that before. So, we decided it wasn't for us anymore. But, after watching your videos, we realised that we really miss it, and are gonna give it another go. Thanks Kevin.
Thank you for making videos of the Algarve I wondered what it was like there I've seen the official videos from the travel companies but you have shown the streets and the bars my wife and I enjoyed every one so thank you
Kevin, Hopefully you will go back to Portugal and keep up all of the great work as so informative and does feel to us that we are back there and it is beautiful and the weather is fantastic ,sorry but get your waterproofs on for old blighty. xx
I think having watched these vlogs from Alb' and seeing the beach and very very calm sea (even with a bit of wind), it may suit families with young children. As for the nightlife...looked busy and pleasant, hopefully doesn't attract the rebellious young adults who usually have their trendier destinations like Magulluf, Americas, Aya Napa, Melia, Falaraki, Ibiza....etc. I shall subscribe because I do find it interesting to see these resorts without my likelihood of visiting them (I already have my bucket list). Just seeing the atmospheres still appeals to my senses. So goodluck with the next venture and take care. Thanks for showing. Oh last thought, hope you keep your Portugal baseball cap, useful keepsake, can always attach it to the outside of your rucksack..or to your shorts.
There is a lift in villa Recife as I said yesterday there are 2 More roof terraces, also its the oldest house in Albufeira then it was extended to a hotel, there is an old photo in reception showing how villa Recife used to look. There are still loads of places you haven't seen. If you go past the cavern and keep walking past a bakery on your right further up the hill turn right follow the main road there are loads of hotels restaurants shops, supermarkets. It's about a 15 minute walk, there are loads of places to discover. give us a mention. Steve & Denise from Stockport
thanks sorry just catching up with comments. Shame they dont use the rooftop bit much it has great views. Loved the location of hotel its a bit noisy, rooms very basic but fine for me for what I paid, its over £100 a night in July I would never pay that fo it.
Great video, Kevin. I've lived near Albufeira for 22 years but am not here for the nightlife so it's interesting to see things from a tourist's viewpoint. I love the food and the wine. The trick is to go for genuine Portuguese dishes: Bacalhao à Brás (cod), Polvo (octopus)à Lagareiro ... But the best thing is grilled fish: Sea Bream, Bass, Sardines... It's not expensive by British standards and it's genuine (healthy) food - not the crap you get in the UK.
Got to say m8 I have loved watching your videos, even though we go every year. 43 days and we will back be so different than last year back to being busy
Cerro Malpique are very nice apartments on the opposite hill, steep climb up a lot of steps but so lovely and peaceful at night, stunning views walking down in the mornings, May be pricey peak season, I used to go Easter and October nice temperatures 🙂 Worth a look as you have a liking for the old town, Safe home Kevin
The town looks really nice and the weather is fantastic, like you said the hotel you stayed in looks very nice from the outside, I don’t blame you for not having breakfast in the hotel I wouldn’t either Kevin, I’m glad you enjoyed your trip
That’s some place Kevin, lovely streets full of brilliant bars and restaurants, loved your Hotel for the price ,some weather , meeting was it Lewis you bumped Ito again , amazing , really affordable. Nice one , better catch up before you churn your daily dose out on us 😂😂😂
Hiya we've booked a villa first time in Praia D'Oura and never been to Portugal. Seeing your videos has calmed this anxious mammys heart lol! Can I aks your opinion were looking at flights n it's cheaper to fly back after 10 days rather than 7. Any hotels you would recommend for 3 days with young kids. Ta
skyscanner.net is best for finding flights use the whole month option u will find the cheapest dates. Any hotels in albufeira old town will be fine but the more basic ones wont have much on so maybe better than mine lol
I see you finally made it up on to the roof, worth the effort isn't it, it's a shame as you said it was a bit noisy I suppose ear plugs would be a cheap way to get round it especially as the hotel is so handily placed for everything.
Albuferia is even more beautiful than i remember(40 years might change a place for the worse). If you`re really going to follow in my footsteps you need to get to Sri Lanka next.
i am staying in that hotel in october because they will cater for a single person, got ripped off in benidorm a couple of weeks ago, because i got charged for 2 even though i was alone again
Thats less than 40 dollars with AC! I love Albufeira so much, and I'd literally save 1000's a month of I spent the entire summer there ( Im in Manhattan)
HI AGAIN KEVIN , EAR PLUGS YES EAR PLUGS THATS WHAT YOU NEED A LOT OF PLACES YOU'VE BEEN YOU HAVE COMMENTED BEING UNABLE TO SLEEP SO IT'S EAR PLUGS FOR YOU MA BOY . STAND FREE
@@ScotsmaninTenerife yes, I saw it was only continental and heard you say you were going somewhere for your breakfast but I thought it might be that you preferred to go for a proper cooked breakfast and maybe all you can eat too.
