This is a fun activity to do with your entire preschool classroom to encourage good behavior and form a sense of team work.

I tried this in a class of 4 year olds and it worked great. It was slightly boring for some of them around 3/4 of the way, I perceived, but we stayed with it, and it was a success! Thank you for all of your inspiring videos.

I like this idea a lot better than the marble jar for the young preschoolers hat way it’s not a choking hazard and it’s a nice soft plush for their sensory feel:)

I love this Idea. Can you guide me how to deal with an active child? What if they disturb during the circle time or during the class.Not seating on there place. And not keeping hand to themselves.How to handle that type of child in classroom?
@positivepreschooltips
@positivepreschooltips 3 года назад
Oh golly! I know all those behaviors can really be challenging! My favorite strategy for individual children is to have them earn rewards for good behavior. I do have a video on that strategy: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H3KDP2ATfC0.html I might also give that little one two choices of where to sit during circle (i.e. You can sit on the carpet or you can sit in a chair). Another thought would be to give him a defined area to sit (not in reach of others). You could use a carpet square or use masking tape to outline his space. If he stays in his spot, he can earn a sticker (or puzzle piece via attached video). Let me know if any of these suggestions work! Thanks for reaching out!

Curious, do you take Pom poms away if kids are very naughty as well, or some children might be great and others struggle?How would you go about that?
@positivepreschooltips
@positivepreschooltips 6 лет назад
Thanks for the question! I do not take Pompoms away. Once they are earned, they stay in the jar. The idea is that the children with naughty behavior will copy the behavior of the students earning the Pompoms so they can earn one as well. This way the attention is on the desired behavior. I have asked struggling students, "do you want to earn a pompom; then you need to do XYZ . .. ". This tells the child exactly what behaviors you want them to do to earn a pompom. As soon as the child does that behavior, give them praise and a pompom so they will be more apt to repeat the desired behavior.

The positive will start being more of an initiative for the other kids and even build as a team. Focus on the positive. Less on the negative. The children who are having a rough day or time eventually the other kids will notice and work as a team with praise and pointing things out you may not even be able to see at the time!!! Taken away only singles kids out and effect all the kids. Just what I've learned trying different things over the years. Thinking about doing this though. More visuals and kids helping each other and even them seeing the positive and not feeding off the negative which will even catch the moment for yourself if stressing out yourself. Happier kids, calmer room and more working as a team. Kids praising kids and it's amazing seeing the other child, especially if they have behavioral issues or developmental delays. Seeing them light up is priceless And helps them to not give up. Sorry, feeling a bit wordy!!

I'm happy to help. I might needs some information, though. Does he seem interested in the other children but doesn't know how to approach them or does he seem to be 'in his own world' and not really aware of the other children?

This also sets up the children to start to recognize who doesn’t earn pompoms- which is the opposite of building community. And the child that struggles also recognizes their own lack of ability. This is the opposite of what research is showing to do :( Public praise can be as damaging as public shaming
@nakita2954
@nakita2954 3 года назад
So what is your solution then? Don't complain if you aren't willing to find a solution.
@nakita2954
@nakita2954 3 года назад
Also as long as you foster a loving classroom where everyone works together to help everyone achieve the goal, it will work fine. Teach kids to bring others up, not down.
@kylarowe7707
@kylarowe7707 3 года назад
Nakita Why would I find it necessary to offer a solution when spoken to like that?! You’ve shown you’re not someone worth putting my effort into. Geeze. And yet you speak of a loving classroom environment...is this how you foster that? Anyways, research shows that having children policing children, including public praising that allows for others to be noticing those that do not get it, is detrimental to the children. Check into Conscious Discipline if you need ideas.
@nakita2954
@nakita2954 3 года назад
@@kylarowe7707 Spoken to like what? An adult? Do you have a source for this claim? Also, it's not policing if she isn't making it a big deal. She isn't calling out the children that aren't getting pompoms. She quietly slips them to them when they are doing good.
