I liked the lack of guardians, it made me able to feel like I could just sit still for moments and take the world in. I noticed parts of the world I never did in BOTW because something was always chasing me there.

wouldn’t it have made sense if the lack of Guardians and most Sheikah tech was explained, though, or at least mentioned in passing? and maybe as a bit of an Easter egg, there’s one random Guardian or Sheikah “Test of Strength” Shrine left in the world somewhere?

I agree 100% with this. Another pain-point in replaying BotW.

I don't think everyone saying this actually would've wanted them in the game, but that's always been such a weird complaint to me. The Guardians were closely tied to Calamity Ganon's identify and served as one of the greatest symbols of progression when you went from shitting your pants at the sight of them to taking them down. Their appearance in TotK would've felt hollow by comparison. I do think it would've been really cool to have the Battle-Tested Guardian from Age of Calamity somewhere in the world and you could fight him as a superboss.

Woweee thanks for double shout out there TGA! Great work on this video, and I think I’m aligned with almost everything you said here personally. Been replaying this game in my spare time lately (again) and it’s so hard to put down. I adore it

Of course! I realized when writing it both videos were important to what I was talking about so I just had to mention them! Ugh it’s such a beautiful game!

I also found it easy to see the memories in order. The game gives us everything we need to do so. We just need to listen to the NPCs. I have seen comments from people complaining that they saw the memories out of order, and my thought is that they didn’t even try.

Well, I understand why it happens. I mean, it’s an open world and so if you come across a tear you don’t want to stop. Especially because I don’t think a lot of us expected this story to be 10x more intense than botw. Botw it truly didn’t matter the order. I made it my goal to find in order, but I won’t shame people for their experience. 😊
@davidbeer5015
@davidbeer5015 23 дня назад
Just to give my experience, as one who was bothered by the out of order. I followed the path to Rito Village after Lookout Landing, and came across the first chronological tear with Impa. She mentioned the Forgotten Temple, which was near where I was heading anyway, so I went there. I saw another Glyph near the temple and thought I’d grab it. Turned out to be a later one, after Sonia’s death and when Rauru gives the stones to the Sages. The rest being out of order was mostly on me, as I didn’t realize the back wall was the order as I was more focused on marking them down from the map in the temple. (I saw where Zelda got the Master Sword before a few other Tears as a result). Just as a contrast, outside of the one from the Champion’s perspective when Calamity Ganon returns (although we did know some of that one already and is intentionally the first one you’re pointed to, iirc), the BotW memories were mostly separate moments and it’s not fully clear of their progression, making it feel less jarring if you stumble across any out of order.

@sarahgesell7275 23 дня назад
I found the memories out of order and LOVED IT! I was fascinated with piecing all the memories together in my head to form a cohesive story. I knew about Sonia’s fate before the memory of that happening - and it made the anticipation so GOOD! It felt quite authentic grabbing those memories as Link stumbled across them
@jamesmontgomery7074
@jamesmontgomery7074 20 дней назад
They really should have just put the memories in chronological order and everytime a new geoglyph is uncovered it plays the next one in the queue. There also should have been more of them. To put some space between Zelda learning about Dragonification and the end cut scene.
@speedude0164
@speedude0164 15 дней назад
I think the memories being viewable out of order would be perfectly fine if it wasn't for memory 15 giving away Zelda's fate. The game does do a great job leading you to discover the natural order, since you probably won't figure out how the geoglyphs work until speaking with Impa, and that quest will naturally lead you to the Forgotten Temple.

As someone who loves pretty much everything about Totk and thinks it's a masterpiece, i'm happy that there are others who share my same opinion, especially through the thick fog of criticism around this game. I'm a classic Zelda superfan too, but i love Botw and Totk for what they are :)

I really appreciate you making this video, because I've been hearing so much negativity about Tears of the Kingdom, when it was my Game of the Year last year, and my current favorite video game. Additionally, I agree with all of your unpopular opinions except that the story was good, but I think my standards for a good story are based on games like Zero Escape, where there's an insane amount of multiple timelines and character betrayals. I will at least admit that it's better than Breath of the Wild's. Keep up the good work with your RU-vidr Channel!

I also loved the story. I understand why people have problems with it, but I love it. And Zelda's sacrifice always makes me tear up

Opinion #1: Agreed, although, A Link Between Worlds was the first Zelda game to carry over a previous map. Opinion #2: Yes and no. I think many of the best shrines in TotK are better than any shrines in BotW, but that as a whole, BotW offers a slightly better shrine experience. Opinion #3: Agreed, although I may be a little more critical of them. I enjoyed them overall, but I do have gripes. Opinion #4: Agreed, there were only a couple NPCs who I thought should’ve clearly recognized Link, but as a whole, I wasn’t very bothered by it. Opinion #5: Disagree. BotW is still enjoyable and different enough to go back to for a unique experience. And then 6 and 7, I agree, but for different reasons and perspectives.

The only point I disagreed with is liking regular dungeons 😂. Well, maybe also that it really bothered me that Bolson didn’t unambiguously remember Link-after all that work on the house, he should have remembered Link. Everyone else worked fine for me. But I basically agreed with everything. DLC cannot change major game mechanics and world physics. The depths are crazy cool. I feel this Hyrule suffers greatly without caves and usable horns, making BotW weird to replay (which I’ve done twice since completing TotK the first time). And I bawled my eyes out the first 8 or so times I played TotK, sometimes just _riding_ the Light dragon. I initially watched the memories out of order, but it didn’t bother me. I prefer BotW’s movement glitches and Champion cutscenes as well as Champion abilities, but the new Champion abilities work better for TotK if you consider anything but combat. Overall, a 20 out of 10 game for me. And a fun video from you!

It combined the wind waker level design with the Action rpg- souls/Bourne slow methodical. The fanboys think it's a sequel but it's just Ganon reincarnated by the tri-force pieces.

It is very hard to tell which opinions are held by the majority these days, and I've been in an endless cycle of feeling like the game was a letdown after engaging in discourse, then feeling like it's one of the best games I've ever played after going back to it myself. It seems to me like a lot of this comes down to people being upset that they may never get the classic Zelda experience they grew up with again, but I still find this whole classic vs modern debate really stupid since not only do the Wild games still have the Zelda adventure feel despite lacking a few other things, we're still in the very first world and era of the modern format. They have more opportunity than ever to change things, and then the flaws of the Wild games might end up being unique to those games as opposed to the death of those classic Zelda elements; we've seen it several times. And yeah, that story had so much to love about it. It didn't really teach us any lessons other than "teamwork will win you the day", but since when do we go to video game stories to learn lessons? Seeing beloved BotW characters become Sages, Ganondorf gain an actual Demon King body, Rauru seal him away and of course Zelda make her monumental sacrifice was all so cool, and that final boss was the single best I've ever played in a video game (funny how the same character gave us both the worst Zelda final boss and the best).

Yes!!!!! Im so glad to hear hype about the story, it was just the right kind of story for me. Awesome characters and the artistry to the cutscenes was so appealing to me, I was pulled in. Definitely also gassing up the demon dragon fight from now on too

I agree with the depths, I feel like it was worth it’s inclusion even if a lot of what you do down there is “samey” I also really appreciate that you brought up the base of the map being the same (as literally everyone does) BUT you actually acknowledged that the map has lots of changes which I barely see anyone bring up which is frustrating cuz it’s clear the devs made sure to put effort into making the world feel different even if the base of it, is the same. I don’t agree with everything in this vid, but I do think the game is a masterpiece of a video game and is incredibly fun to play…the lore and story tho…uhhh not my favourite but at least the boss fights were cinematic, fun, cool and most importantly LEGENDARY!!!
@speedude0164
@speedude0164 15 дней назад
The way I see it, although the format is really similar with the regional quests, Shrines and memories, the similarities are mostly superficial. You're travelling through the same world, but the actual content in that world is almost entirely different. I don't like when people say we're just doing the same thing as Breath of the Wild since among other examples, that game had us do target practice to complete the Rito quest while Tears of the Kingdom had a blizzard change the whole look of the place and had us dive into a freaking tornado to access the Temple.

I find it also a masterpiece, though a little harder than Zelda botw, and absurdly some wanted it even harder ... But I do get that some get fun out of a hard game, there are gamers that just want to relax with a game though.
@TheGeekApprentice
@TheGeekApprentice 24 дня назад
Fair enough! Depends on the game for me. With Zelda games I want a challenge - to a point. I like that with Totk I can kind of decide how difficult everything is. But if I want to relax I play Animal Crossing or Sims😊
@rikgesamo2638

@@TheGeekApprentice That is the advantage in the newer games, you can make it as difficult or easy as you want. Is Ganondorf to easy? Just use 3 hearts :)

I loved Tears of the Kingdom. It's not a DLC. Tears of the Kingdom is its own game. It's more or less expanded on from Breath of the Wild, and nothing is wrong with that. A Link Between Worlds is based off from A Link to the Past and is a really good game. Thumbs up.
