Possessed are the inventors of death metal! The band formed back in 1983, and by 1985 released their groundbreaking album, Seven Churches. Two more great releases followed before the back called it a day in 1987. In 2007, vocalist, Jeff Becerra, reformed the band with a new cast of players. Revelations of Oblivion came out in 2019, and it reestablished Possessed as a primal force within the genre.
