I live in northwestern NJ where it’s way more rural then this area, I know at least 10 people who have seen mountain lions here. It’s only a matter of time before someone gets a picture.
None of the states will admit the eastern cougar still exists, however ask any rural living person in those states and they will tell you they absolutely do!
I believe you I was told the same thing even though someone else saw it too in Putnam Connecticut a few years ago. The other person works for the water works here. Why are they trying to discredit people a Bob cat and a mountain lion look nothing alike !!
Saw a mountain lion on ross hill road in lisbon ct while driving a truck i thought it was a big dog until i saw the tail and how it moved just like a house cat. Was the size of a brown lab at least. My neighbor owns a horse farm and he saw a wounded one going through his yard one day this is in the Mohegan state park
I'll tell you what, these "Experts" that work for the DCR obviously need to go back to college because we've had Mountain Lions in Massachusetts here in the Quabbin for YEARS folk's. The Quabbin is the perfect habitat for them and myself and a few neighbors have spotted them and everyone said, no way... They were very silent when shown the actual proof and were also surprised we all aren't idiots and know the difference between Bobcats, Lynx and My Lions. I had one walk through my yard underneath my apple trees this past Spring early summer.
The DEEP extensively tries to cover up incidents and claim ct does not have mountain lions when that’s just false. I live in a very rural small ct town and have seen 3 mountain lions in the past 15 years. About 5 years ago one was struck and killed by a car, and within 1 1/2hours the DEEP came and took the animal, then refused to speak on it.
