Sadly shipping is a shell game that allows those responsible to get away with it. Notice there are no more ships like Exxon Valdez were you knew who owned the ship. The crews come from India, Russia, Philippines, and China through brokers. The ship comes from another broker and shell companies. Egypt still has not been paid for the damages caused by the Container ship that got stuck in the Suez.

These intermodal reefer units are fairly new, but getting ever the more popular on ships and rail. -Just one bad one shorting out could have been the issue. These reefer boxes have a diesel generator, but on ships they plug them in for power. -saves them from having to refuel +the emissions.

There was a second ship..Hyundai involved..that lost power in NYC. It missed bridge as it had tugs available and on duty. Both flagged out of asia..China I believe. Hyundai has been called into the Baltimore event. Are we talking tofu circuits instanced by the Singapore management company. As in use all things cheap..or is there a faux part system impacting ship board mainance similar to what is seen in cars..vehicles?

This is not news. We knew this only a couple of days after it happened. All of this and more. We also know that throughout our history, nearly 100% of 'accidents' like this have been 'preventable'. Someone or a group of someone's, or a systemic failure, is to blame. It's never just one thing though. We should never be surprised when stuff happens. How could they not happen? With the busyness and complicated nature of our existence, there is no way that we can avoid 'accidents'. We do, we screw up in ways we didn't think we could, we cry, we get angry, we clean up, legal up, make changes and go on to repeat the exact same process. 'Accidents' are a natural consequence of human evolution. Nobody is innocent. We all contribute in one way or another. Who wants to guess what was on that container ship and who that stuff was for? It was for human beings' consumption. Somebody, thousands upon thousands of people, ordered that cargo for themselves, needed that cargo for something. It sailed for us! Let's not forget about the supply and demand that drives ships, planes, trains, and automobiles! It's you, me, and everybody we know.

The bridge's age has nothing to do with the collapse. But the design made it vulnerable so that if the legs holding it up are hit, the whole bridge comes down. That design might have worked with smaller ships, but not the huge ships of today.
