I was up there today meeting with the roofer to come up with a plan for some mounting sockets for the handrail on the upper terrace. Still in rough in and they are running out of room to cram stuff in:-)
@@bartoknight they stopped because the structure part was complete, which is my part of the job. I’m not the GC on it and progress is still in full swing there. I’m currently working on the post and beam barn right now. I’ll be back to the Modern house when it’s time for interior and exterior handrails.
It’s just awesome to see you build those sections in sequence stacked on top each other to optimize the big crane lift that’s coming. One of the things I enjoy most about the channel is starting to understand and anticipate how you will do something. I feel I’m learning a lot. Back to the modern home. Did the owners follow the channel? I hope they gave you plenty of praise for the work.
Thanks Michael, as far as I know the modern house still does not have a buyer yet but the architecture firm that's building it always like seeing thier Ideas come to life and that one sits in its space particularly well.
I'm extremely green with that drone. I made one flight and didn't get what I wanted so I flew again and did get it but forgot to hit record so I had enough battery for one more quick one and I hit the crane :-) No neighbors in view:-) All the same place. Just ordered some lens filters on the advice of another commenter so it should be getting better soon.
It kinda works, I think if i put a little splap of weld on the socket before installing the collar it would keep it from slipping and scratching anyway....
Seems like the crane clamp you fabricated is working quite well. Curious... are you building this barn to completion or are you only doing the rough framing like you did with the modern house? Can't remember if you mentioned it before.
Hey George, This project is a little different in that I am siding it too. So yes, pretty much the whole thing except for the roof. Its still pretty involved since everything shows inside and ouit.
@@ShredPile My error 11:47:00 you start to explain the blocks at 30:16:00 you can only see the block internally but looking more closely I can now see an external block too which is confirmed at 42:16:00
No kneepads? Ouch. I use gel filled ones from some tile place. They so much comfy than the hard ones. My knees keep swelling up. Drs say ‘handmaids knee’ and not to use them. Like thats gonna work.
I'm pretty lucky in that it really doesn't bother me. I keep a couple kneel pads in the truck just in case I'm stuck in one spot for a while or the surface i'm working on is hot. If you wear double knee carhartts the inserts they sell are pretty slick, I have a set of the honeycombs but I think they make a gel one too.
I was up there today measuring for some handrail. I was just the framer on it so I won't be back until I measure the rest of the pieces and get them fabbed up. It is coming along nicely tho.
Good Idea, I was scared for my fingers :-) It fits 6x6 thru 6x10 and would fit the 6x12 better if I trimmed the socket legs a littl bit. The large range makes them all grab a little differently and the 6x10 size just happens to get wedged in there really tightly and needed a little help to get unstuck. If I build it again I will include that feature as well as the swivel jaws that another commenter suggested. It will most likely be built to handle them in the vertical rather than flat for this kit.
