Great video Stu. Working solo and producing content. If I did a video of me working on my car it would contain lost parts I had just put down, missing tools , lots of swearing and injuries. Good to watch makes me want a Saturday job at Alive !!
On your compression struts try using nylock nuts . Wind them on the rod end first, once the nylon has the thread formed into it reverse the nut . Threads are deeper than half nuts so should be better. Also try facing the ends off in a lathe to make sure the nut has a flush face to mate up to . Nothing wrong with a buffalo/ rhino board front splitter. Try using ‘T’ nuts for mounting things, their used in furniture manufacturing their a very neat way to fix through ply . T nuts are a flanged threaded insert with 4 spikes formed on them .
They'll be coming loose as they won't be working in the correct plain. Once you stop them coming loose they'll fracture at the threads. Better designed parts required.
