+Eji Female SS voice has various tones : sad, angry, happy, neutral. I'm happy I always play female when it's possible in RPGs. Male voice isn't that awful either, but female is much much better. Reminds me of the female vs male voice in Mass Effect, female was better too.

The institute is going to wait for all of the Commonwealth to die. The institute will not help anyone but themselves. The bos actually helps people although I do agree Elder Maxson isn't exactly the best leader. The minutemen help people so they are useful. The railroad well the railroad is kinda crazy. So no I wouldn't side with the institute.
The Funny Dovakhiin the minutemen is the best decision morally but YOU are the leader of the institute which means you call the shots, no more abductions, etc. Also the institute could make a serum to revert all the nuclear animals back just reverse the world as is with all the synths they have.
I like how Preston is selling guns in the background during the conversation with X6. You can use those guns to go help a settlement being threatened by raiders. Here, I'll mark it on your map.

Not just X6. Preston Garvey seemed rather emotionless about the whole ordeal too. Everyone else got super pissed at you for siding with the institute. But preston Garvey is all "what's done is done." Like it doesn't really matter in the end.
I'm more surprised Preston is more ok with you siding with the institute, but I guess he doesn't have time to worry about that with all those settlements he keeps worrying about. Piper and Nick hate you for it though, lol
+Joe V That's not surprising, seeing how the Minutemen are the only faction that can survive the Institute ending. Minutemen were always more focused on the direct threats, like mutants and raiders. Being kidnapped and replaced is an awfully subtle and far away threat when you're worried about mutants kicking down your front door and eating you.

I'm surprised the Sole Survivor doesn't have a option toward Nick and Piper that's something like "Don't forget, I lead the Institute now. Imagine all the good we can do for the commonwealth with all those scientists and synths working for us." The game just automatically assumes your going to be the new Shaun and that the Institute will just continue operations the same way it always had been. What, did Bethesda not think that the player would want to use the Institute resources to actually aid the Commonwealth?

Bronson Yeah Preston's Voice Actor is actually good but people fail to realise is that Preston's Character is coming out of Depression. There's good evidence of this as when He talks to Sole Survivor when they develop thier friendship. He talks about how he wound up in Concord and how his world came crashing down when Quincy got attacked and how all the other minutemen abandon the cause and was left to fend for themselves and how if you didn't stick around in sanctuary he might've to committed suicide(not by shooting himself but do something reckless to get himself killed) I think the ending of the main quest mark's the point when Preston is starting gain hope and seeing how the minutemen are rising back to its former glory that's why he has a bit more emotion in his lines.
Isaiah Aguilera Yup. I was actually touched when he was pouring his heart out like that to the Sole Survivor and how he "saved" his life in more ways than one.
What always bothered me was that when I went for the Institute-wins ending, I never got the chance to explain that the Sole Survivor's son headed it, wanted me to do right by it and whatnot. I wanted the choice to actually improve things by the ending and seeing a bit of it either start or show signs of life improving for all in the Commonwealth, not just the Institute. It sucks that the Brotherhood and Railroad were killed(I really didn't want to) but the technology(synth obsession aside) that the Institute had was incredible and could be used for good things such as reintroducing food types in the world, curing diseases old and new, improving the quality of life for humanity as a whole, and stopping the business of synth-switching real people for malicious things. but nope, I'm a bad guy for wanting to believe an organization like the Institute can change, slowly but surely.
@@sneedfeedandseed2410 All I ever wanted to do was tell Nick or Piper that I spent the whole time, looking for my son. Finding them to aid in that goal ended in me finding him. Whether they like it or not, I found my son, I could not bring myself to betray him. I wish I could have told them that I'd like to see them look their loved one in the eye as they were betrayed by the one trying to find them. The one who tore across and bested every odd that came towards them. Unfortunately, I cannot do that. But I love them all the same.
@@shad03void99 and thats why you download the alternative start mod, these quests are a lot more bearable when you have no real connection to Shaun or any of those institute people, you are just a wastelander who stumbled upon a murder/kidnapping scene and decided to pursue kelogg.
@@sneedfeedandseed2410 I can accept alternative start mods for Skyrim, cause you are free to be who you want and I genuinely like the reason why you still can go to Jarl Ballin' to inform him of the dragon attack. But Fallout 4 does not have that luxury in terms of driving motivation. You are a Veteran/Lawyer(?), and you come from a vault looking for your son. For a guy like me, I like immersing myself into the Fallout 4 story, people say it isn't that great, sometimes I can agree, but aside from modding myself to be a god among men, I generally like the story to remain the same. Unless I decide to become Overboss Orgasmo. Love me some raiding.
god preston is such a hypocrite he gets upset with you when you don't warn everyone to escape before you blow the institute who are known monsters but yet he's eager to destroy the prydwen which has children living on it i guess the minute men aren't so good after all
He doesn't know the Prydwen has children on it. As far as he knows, everyone on it is a soldier. The Institute, meanwhile, was filled with civilian scientists.
That's the main reason for me never picking the Institute. I felt awkward as hell trying to travel with her after beating the game the one time i picked them, restarted just for her.
The railroad's ignorance bugs me sometimes. They strip synths of everything they are and doom them to extinction and call it "freedom" It's simply one form of bondage for another. Better to change things for the better slowly and not some swift action like some rabid dog.
1. They choose to have their memories wiped so there's less of a chance the institute can ever find them again 2. They give the memory-wiped synths the memories of a different person, presumably one they wanted.
In a way, you're not wrong, though. The institute scientists were the only people capable of performing maintenance on the synths. So, they're still being doomed if the institute and its scientist civvies are wiped out. In some ways, it's either the institute ending or the minutemen ending that makes the most sense long-term.
I agree. That's why I told the Railroad agent that Acadia didn't need any help when I started Far Harbor. Gen 3 synths don't require maintenance like a Gen 1s or 2s they are biological and require all the maintenance of a regular person. That's why you see the coursers using stimpaks.
I don't think Synths mind the institute being destroyed, if anything they want nothing to do with them. With the institute gone people will probably not be as racist towards them so they will he able to live with the rest (unlike Arcadia). I'm pretty sure Synths would choose extinction over slavery

It's a shame there was no way to convince piper and Nick that the institute could change for the better, I like to imagine my character changed some of the institutes methods and used some of their tech to help the commonwealth after the ending, maybe have them work with the Minutemen
Does not really matter what your companions think most of them are the children of commonwealth and obviously not welcoming something as foreign as institute. But yeah I believe Institute in your charge has true power to change the world, with endless armies of synths and great technology you can wipe out and clean out all hazards like radiation, monsters and so on. While Brotherhood of Steel is powerful you dont end as thier leader and since they don't really produce any technology but rather just collect it themselves sooner or later they would get obsolete. Railroad does not have the manpower or even the goal of changing the commonwealth all they care about is synths. Minuteman er obviously a supporting faction that can help to bring stability to the commonwealth but it seems they truly dislike the BoS. So if you want to save the world no matter the cost ------> Institute Want to help people in your current time and be moral ------> Minuteman Want to be a fanatical nut-job what risks real people for machines that are potentially people ----> Railroad Want to be part of organized organization that is pretty straightforward and follow orders----> BoS
Honestly, there should have been a dialogue choice for the Institute ending where you could explain siding with the Institute only because of your son. My SS hated everything about the Institute but after realizing his son was their leader he sided with them only to be with his son again (I didnt know Shaun was going to die my first playthrough). It definitely would've added a layer to the SS if that was an option & I think Nick wouldve understood that sentiment.
I wouldn't say the opposite you know but... these girls aren't femmes fatales... whereas Danse is the male equivalent of a femme fatale, physically speaking to say the least.

I find it interesting how Preston is pretty chill if you side with the institute, and despite being a citizen of the commonwealth like Piper or Nick, he actually listens to your reasons and trusts you made the right choice after getting to know you so well.
right after piper says "oh yeah? and what about the Commonwealth's future?" one of the dialogue options should have been like "what do you think the minutemen are for?" if you progressed far enough with them.
Honestly, the male Sole Survivor has a good point during his interactions with Danse. He fought the Chinese, himself. If anyone understands the guilt and consequences of war… it’s him.

I wish there was an option to wrest control of the Institute and use it to transform the Commonwealth for the better. All that science and technology is far better used to help rather than all of it going up in flames.

While I personally think that rationally speaking, the institute is the most realistic way of achieving a better future under the sole survivor's leadership, I still choose to side against them every time because I can't bear to have my two favorite companions, Nick and Piper, disappointed in me

Yeah, it sucks. You don't even get a chance to explain that you're now the director, and that you can change them. Whatever you say in the radio speech is completely ignored. It feels like this part of the story was rushed for release.

Impulse Burst nick is a close second. while this game is underwhelming imo, i played this game JUST for the voice acting and story alone because its just so damn good
I know this video is old but I recently got back into Fallout 4 and honestly the fact you couldn't pick The Institute and just change the way it works seems lazy writing, stop synth production, no more experiments on humans in the commonwealth, keep coursers just incase The Brotherhood makes a mad dash for your tech, and just help the commonwealth. The Institute could easily bring Project Purity to the Commonwealth, non irradiated drinking water, fresh crops with real food and proper medical treatment. The institute could easily accelerate the growth of the commonwealth and humanity as a whole.
+Casey Wolfe I sided with the institute with MacCready as a romantic companion and he said he didn't expect that ending but as long as I'm happy, he's happy. Not sure if the romance affects his reaction or not, but that seems like kind of a boyfriendy thing to say
