This video demonstrates how to conduct a post hoc test after a chi-square test (3 by 3) using SPSS and Excel. The post hoc test yields probability values for each combination of independent category levels and uses a Bonferroni Correction to control for type I error inflation.

I have never commented on a youtube video before, but I just needed to tell you how much you have just saved my stats. I have spent countless hours in the last week trying to figure out how to convert my standardized residuals to a p value that I can compare to my bonferroni adjusted p value. this was amazing.

Hello, thank you for the extremely useful video. My question is that why "df" equals to 1 in the function of SIGNIFICANCE(ChiSQ, df)?

This video was helpful in helping me realize the importance of using a post hoc to test for probability and significance. If my research proposal was extended into a study, I could se myself using post hoc.

Dr. Grande, I wish I had seen this video when I was taking Statistics in undergrad! This would have been so beneficial for me to watch and use as a guideline while initially learning this information or as a refresher later in the semester! Overall, I found this video to be fascinating and helpful. Likewise, I really appreciated the way that everything was broken down step-by-step.

Thanks for your awesome tip for chi-square post-hoc test. I have a question. The degrees of freedom for the chi-square are calculated using the following formula: df = (r-1)(c-1) where r is the number of rows and c is the number of columns. When you put CHISQ.DIST.RT function on excel, degree of freedom value should be (3-1)*(3-1), I guess. Thanks for your video again.

Thanks a lot Todd, I just have one question, How do I interpret this finding? do I say that ''Individual learning method'' was significantly more effective than "Group" and "Online" in producing Low outcome?

Excellent vid; thx. Similar question as a few others have posted: How do I interpret this finding? Did Individual learning method produce significantly fewer Low outcomes?

Why did you put df=1 in =CHISQ.DIST.RT(x.Deg_freedom)? the Degree of freedom in your Chi-Square Tests is 4. So why put 1? Thanks in advance

I'd appreciate if if you could demonstrate how to obtain cramer's v values for each pairwise comparision. Thank you.

Hi, what does it mean when on first impression i.e. from the cross tabs result you get a significant difference but then after completing the post hoc test they all show significance?

How did you determine to use 1 as the degrees of freedom when converting the z scores to p values with the chi square.dist.rt function in excel?

Hello, Dr Grande. Thank you for this very useful explanation. Does this post hoc test have any specific name?

I teach biostatistics to head students and appreciate your channel greatly. Thank you. Question, is it not that the adjusted standard residual is a Z-score? If yes, can't I use it to calculate a P-value using the NORM.S.DIST excel function? And would squaring a Z-score turn it into a Chi-stat, hence what you did in the video?

Hi I really want to know if I use fisher freeman Hilton instead of test of independent can I still use post hoc test to define which pair is significant?

Hi, may I ask a question? I followed your steps and calculate the p value of each cell. May I know how to interpret the results? If the p value is less than 0.05, can I say in this row, this column is significantly different from other columns? Looking for your reply, Thanks
