i want to put up shade sails in my backyard. my plan is to attach 6x6 posts onto my existing concrete patio using simpson post bases and wedge anchors. would that be sufficient for a sail thats about 12x24 or do you recommend digging holes into the ground for the posts and pouring cement like you did in this video? thanks!
John, great question! We still recommend using a 4 foot deep hole and sinking your post in with concrete. There is a lot of lateral forces in our Shade Sails (without taking into account the effects of weather) so to ensure longevity of the system, especially in a residential setting, a well-buried footing is advised.
Great question! We recommend at least 6x6" pressure-treated posts buried 4 feet below grade in a concrete caisson. Please email us at info@shadesailscanada.com for more details!
