You know honey ! I think its all B.S that there are people out there and myself just say , Well eats your hearts out ! Honey ! My little story is i have a captive closet and have'nt even been out in public, sa how sad is that ! Just turned 68 this past July .Just to say how fabulous you look. You sound like someone with a big heart .
You look great! I live in northern NJ and I can tell you that the fear of going out is worse than the reality. There is a local Wegmans near me and I see CDs all the time, no one cares. Most ppl if they clock you don't reach. I live in Morris county, not exactly Berkeley,ca ,ppl are generally cool. Self confidence is key, along with dressing to fit in:). If you are hesitant or looking around it draws the eye. One thing to be mindful of is what we used to call tran-a-noia in group. It is where you think everyone is talking about you or clocking you, someone laughs, someone says ',oh, man!' and it comes out as ' that's a man!'. You kind of have to prime yourself to assume the opposite. It is funny,when women clocked me and talked to me, it was usually kind. They would compliment me on my makeup, and would then chat about styling,what would look good on me (I if course also made sure to compliment them,). Some ppl would ask about my journey ( not often) ,sometimes an older women would lean over and say 'good for you'. Most ppl though either don't even see you or if they do,are polite and dont visibly react. You look great btw, you will find yourself looking even better w hrt. A big one is the beard, once that is clear and hrt you will be able to go out without the heavy makeup, it is an amazing thing:). When my hair had grown in , I could put it in a ponytail, throw on a bit of makeup and go out,it was great ( and when going more femme, was even better) Eastern Pennsylvania is fine, the western part of the state is kind of backwards,but eastern pa is really a NY exurb.
