She explains that it's important for patients to remain in a flexed position with pillows behind their head and below their knees.
Rest is crucial, but it's also important to get up every few hours and walk around for a few minutes. This increases blood flow and prevents clots.
When you do stand up and walk around, you should stay slightly bent over so as to not strain the abdominal muscles.
After your surgery you should not shower until your post-operation follow up appointment.
You will be put in a garment after your surgery and should keep this garment on until your follow up appointment.
