12/19/22. I am forced into having R N Y surgery. I had weight loss surgery in the 80s which was botched! My stomach eventually ruptured and now at 71 it no longer functions properly. I do need to loose weight. About 100 lbs. but they say I am at the do or die stage of this mess. I am in so much pain now that a redo / repair is my only option. I was at this same point two years ago and then Covid! I love your videos and am looking at your coaching pkgs! Thank you !

I am so happy I found you on here. I am literally at the beginning of this process. I had my consultation last week for the gastric sleeve, I have all my tests scheduled for December 21st, earliest date they had available for the all-in-one LOL. I have been thinking about surgery for years, and have been on Weight Watchers on and off for about 11 years. I would lose the weight and eventually gain it all right back plus some. At the end of the day, I believe this is the best option for me and I do not take it lightly. I know there's going to be extreme changes to my lifestyle and that's exactly what I need. Thank you so much for sharing with us your journey. Hi! I love that you’re doing this together. I had to follow pretty strict guidelines (my guess is that you will, too!). Post-op, I didn’t like Jello (but I never have) or any of the sweet flavors of protein shakes. I strained soup to have more flavor than just broth!

My surgery will be early next year, most likely RNY. I HATE throwing up. Not that anyone LIKES doing it, but I truly almost have a phobia about it. Almost every video I watch about WLS, they say Im gong to be throwing up.... a lot. I dont know how Im going to handle that part other than being uber careful and overly cautious about eating PO.
@BariTaleCoaching
@BariTaleCoaching Год назад
Ok, so there are LOTS of people who have surgery and don’t throw up. I’m an easy puker (gross I know, but it’s true) and I don’t really mind it once it’s over? If you’re super careful with small bites and chewing thoroughly, you may never get sick!

Hey Loren! My first few days post-op were hard (painful, regret hard). After that, I didn't struggle because I chose to look at this like an opportunity. How long was it before you could drink from a straw? I struggle to take pills unless I drink from a straw. Also, have you ever needed to drink during a meal? I have swallowing difficulties due to a previous surgery and occasionally will start coughing/choking during meals. I usually drink some water to help this so I am worried how I will handle it after surgery.
@BariTaleCoaching
@BariTaleCoaching Год назад
It was several months before I added a straw back in, but I tend to drink more slowly with one. You can take SMALL sips (though likely not at first) before you start to feel full. When you get to reintroduce solids, cut them SUPER small and chew like 50 times per bite. It's tedious, but it'll eliminate choking!

Food industry really needs to shovel more and more crap down peoples throat for a profit. Proportions of food are way too big. You dont even need bypass, if people just ate like that on their own for a few months it would work the same.
@BariTaleCoaching
@BariTaleCoaching Год назад
Hi Christopher, you must be new here! I agree that portions, especially in America, are definitely out of control, but usually weight is linked to some type of trauma or childhood experience rather than strict diets. It's rarely about the food actually! Everyone who has WLS has been on a MYRIAD of failed diets, so I can assure you this is not about eating habits exclusively. It would be a lot easier if it was!
