What about the Rebuild series, a simple management game from the flash games era, was both on Kongregate and are on Steam now. Worth a look, just like this one.

I wonder if Wander is going to realize you can shoot from inside buildings, and your guys seem to get defense bonuses for doing so :p

Ooh, this one seems like it could be a life-eater with a few tweaks. Wish the visuals were a little more compelling? Definitely interested to follow this one along.

I love this game demo but it makes my 3090 ti crawl at higher quality, so they probably have more optimization to do.

1:18 There really is no exception in "worldwide virus spreading" map dramatisation : it shows the virus progressively "spreading" to large areas where nobody lives.

Really want there to be a zombie story that the zombies developed enough that they figured out how to call out the survivors from their shelters

This game is fun to watch. I see some content creators go for big cities and the buildings are too big to scavenge quickly causing problems for having enough resources.

I feel like individually hand-placing each structure on each map would be alleviated with a host of different prefab building models for specific building types, then using a Google Maps algorithm to place them down. I’m sure there would be errors in the beginning, but adding new building types (and new items, maybe) plus making the buildings themselves modular (for buildings that have more than one different service within, like stripmalls). Geography and real-world stat-based loot and population would also be great.

I noticed on a number of these demos that my computer struggled even on lowest settings. I think many of them just aren't optimized yet.

So I played one game. After that game ended I tried starting a new one. The game crashed and continues crashing every time I try and start a new game. I’ve even tried to uninstall and reinstall. Don’t get me wrong I actually enjoyed playing the game. It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time. However if I can’t even play then… yeah…

I was in on the QandA today during the loop stream, Expeditions will act similarly to Frostpunk, you will not be able to set up a secondary HQ (at some point in the stream the dev mentions they want to add ability to "start anew" after your zone reaches a certain point, and the need to expand into another city/area of a city iirc). There will be opposition from other non-infected people, as well as cooperation. Events based on weather. Squads can be refitted in full version (someone said they can split as well). There will not be an underground element as far as your entire "zone" is underground, but the possibility of being able to have expeditions explore underground prefab/modded bunkers will be available at some point. The AI is going to be "redone", but the demo build most of the stuff happening is predefined. There will be more variability when it comes to "big swarm" attacks and the intervals and events that trigger them. Expeditions will be able to report finding swarms gathering and give you a time frame of when it will enter your area and attack. The developer in the interview said they prefer not to use "zombie" but more in line with I am Legend "infected". Bears are confirmed infected animals (tanks of the infected, takes a lot to bring them down), and moose. There will be "leader" infected that gives buffs to nearby infected. The devs in the chat answered a question about movement speed for vehicle/foot, and they are going to implement something that affects it i.e terrain + or - , I suggested carrying weight of loot for both foot and vehicle, so who knows what they will implement for movement speed buffs. That's about all I was able to get that I cared about.
