In 2005, this episode was banned because it had a lesbian couple in it. 13 years later, they had a gay wedding episode on the actual show. As a wise man once said, the times they are a-changin'.

I watched this as a kid on VHS tape quite a lot and it was in no way inappropriate. Honestly, I didn't understand that they were a couple - I just accepted that there were two moms and didn't think further on it, but even if I had known, it would have been for my benefit. I'm realizing now as a teenager that I'm a lesbian, and it would have been helpful for me to see more age appropriate lesbian role models at a young age. It hurts to see that this was banned for nothing more than bigotry, and I hope these mothers and their children are doing well these days.

Buster and his dad didn't care who they met. Him and his dad showed all aspects of America it's diversity and why that truly makes this country great.

Considering that Mr. Ratburn has been confirmed to be Gay, they should bring this back

This is so wholesome. Honestly most kids wouldn’t have any idea that they are lesbians, I wouldn’t have known surely as I was a clueless child when watching arthur

I don't understand why this episode is banned on PBS kids. There's nothing inappropriate about it and nothing was mentioned in the episode about the lesbian couple. This episode is about accepting others for who they are and not how not how you expect them to be.

It makes me sick that people would not air this just because it's a lesbian couple and nothing else what about the kids with lesbian parents not only that but this is teaching kids to be excepting something most adults still have a hard time doing probably because they too didn't grow up learning to except things with things like this

The fact people forgot this existed is hilarious to me because they are surprised that Mr Ratburn is gay. It makes me laugh.

I found nothing wrong with this episode. But I can see why it was banned. People in the 2000s weren't as accepting to LGBT people.

Why was this banned. Sure there was lesbain couple but they where never specified as such.i only know cause I am 31 and have had an intresting life.

Why in the world would someone ban this, they're are lesbians all around the world, I'm not gay but accept people for who they are so why can't the broadcast (or whoever banned it).

Why did they ban this episode? Honestly, it's so stupid that because it was a warm and happy family with nothing wrong with them. If it was that offensive to some people, they could have just changed the channel simple as that. Homosexuality exists in many species and homophobia exists in one, sad fact!

I watched this ep when it first aired and i was so sad when it woulsnt air again bc it was my favoite episode So glad times are changing ! I remember how happy i was last christmas when the mr ratburn wedding episode aired in florida on my grandpa's tv Love truly wins ❤🎉

By just being gay, Mr. Ratburn is the most powerful being in Arthur, because he can powerwalk anywhere and eat infinite cake. And most importantly, he can take 3 gummy vitamins instead of 2.

I watched this ep in Israel and I was so small that I didn't even get that they were LGBT 😂 Baster was like "wow, those are a lot of moms!" and I was like: "that's so cool! two *single* mom's rasing one kid! but where is the dad? maybe divorce?" 😂😂😂😂 in Israel we don't talk about it, maybe that's why it's less "political" and ppl just see it as "reality" like, "there is a gay couple? well so? who cares?" it's the same with Etiopian jews ("black" jews) since majurity of jews in Israel are from some parts of Africa anyway (especially the north) ppl just become "colour blind" of course that doesn't mean racism/homophobia doesn't exist, it's more of a "I don't care either way" thing. I mean I was in a REALIGIOUS SCHOOL and had a leasbian friend at 7th grade, people just don't care. 🤷‍♀️ for some reason in both USA and Erupe everyone is pulling one end, some are like "hate all LGBTQ+! KILL THEM ALLL KILL THEM ALL, NO LGBTQ CAN BE IN ANY TV SHOWWWWW" and the other side is like: "everyone NEED to know all about LGBTQ+ EVEN IF THEY DON'T WANNA OR THEY ARE HOMOPHOBIC! use the right pronune! don't assume genderrrrrrr! TRANSPHOBBBBICCCCC." and here we are like: "chill bros, want some Hummus?" like, why can't people be like that? my granny is vary religious but she still adopted my aunt which is a lesbian and give her a home and love, it's probobly sounds crazy to you but here it's like "so what?" I think it's sad that this was banned. They seemed like such nice people. And even if people didn't want to introduce LGBTQ based subjects, this is so casual that it would be hard to pick up on for a young child. I remember seeing this episode and didn't even realize there was something different until I thought about the episode later.

Mr. Ratburn got married to a man recently. Times have changed.

I didn’t even know this show existed until Alabama said they weren’t gonna air Mr. Ratburn’s wedding

This is a textbook example of age-appropriate programming for 4- to 6-year-olds, with the most innocuous portrayals of family life. Anyone concerned for the effect that watching this episode has on their children needs to spend some time asking themselves whether the content of one's pants or a commitment to love and nurture the children in one's care is what makes someone a good parent.

In 50 years, people will be mocking the people responsible for banning this episode. Look at the Wikipedia article "Kirk and Uhura's Kiss" if you don't believe me. Back then people were freaking out because "OMG a black person kissed a white person, aaaa!!!" Today we look back on those people losing their minds and laugh at how stupid they were.

It's important to educate children about acceptance and love. Thank you for sharing this video!

In 2005, I was given a copy of this episode on video, from a friend in another state. My local PBS refused to play it for the obvious reasons which I considered more of a political, rather than moral decision made by the US Department of Education, since they where the ones that financed the 'Postcards from Buster' series. The only thing that would had made the episode OK for broadcast, was if the segment with the pictures was deleted from the show and of course, there was no mention of 'My mother and stepmother' and Buster saying 'That's a lot of moms' right away. But quite surprised that this was a more political gain momentum for the Bush era administration that pushed the line on a cartoon show and since they where in control of the Government (Just like the actual President is now!) they where expecting to de-fund PBS and time and again, proven wrong about it. By the way... This cartoon also have a different episode with a Mormom Church family and no one said anything bad about it and they where OK with praying at the table. The family in this episode seems to be Jewish and all because of the same sex relationship, comes as a serious threat to our society. Is 2017 and we are still allowing this already? Mindblowing to say the least.

There needs to be more shows like this to caters everyone and accepts everyone including LGBT...We are all human and it doesn't matter who we are or what we are.

I know that this show is for kids but I think its nice to have a lesbian couple and its ok to show lesbian couple on a kids show. I feel happy that they have gay/lesbian couples on TV😊
