What a misleading title. The whole video is about one building. Interesting nonetheless , but it really shouldn't be called "Postmodern Architecture: A Brief History"
it could have evolved in to a good quality post modernist architecture, based on regional architecture and respect for the built envoirement a sort of renaissance, a looking back to the past and expand on it, but the modernists couldnt let other ideas exist beyond their own conception of what architecture should be, witch is still not what people want, even 100 years later. i would take this over the unité d'habitacion any day of the weak, at least is not soul crushingly depressive and anti-human as the corbusier buildings are
Ah, the hokiest of arch movements! Looks like a place the Power Rangers would go to running start classes at. That scene in Back to the Future 3 when Marty comes out dressed as a pastel 1950s cowboy in preparation to travel into the factual reality of the old west. That’s an allegory for this building pretending to be a real building. I mean, Ricardo Bofill it is not.
post modernism might be hokie, but at least it was an attempt of bringing back some color and some architectural concepts that were dismissed and forbiden by the modernists, who were the real criminals and the responsable for the destruction and degradation of beautiful cities around the world. if postmodernism is silly , Modernism is evil, a movement headed by three fascist who couldnt get comissions in germany or vichy france and winning the priztker prize should automatically forbid you from building anything anywhere, its a corrupt award that rewards people who see architecture as a way to provoque and insult the inteligence ofthe population and not for people to live in
