26:10 I think the river c/r is the single most important move in this game. Nature of the game is such, that you must plan your value hands in such a way that they support your weaker zc range. Generally people won't fold a nut low, even if they have no hi whatsoever. Often it doesn't make sense to bloat the pot much on previous streets.
Here after getting 1/6 of a 3 way all in pot in big O. Don’t overplay the low lol. I crush hold em but people where I’m at only like mixed games so I gotta step my game up.
When You have a disguised boat on a river and the spr is as small 1/2, 18:45, You have to valuebet it, to get value and to protect bluffs You would sometimes run. It used to be that people played pl8 too straight forward and You wouldn't get paid enough. But now people understand it is a poker game, odds they getting, and can't just nut peddle.
That A35Q hand was pretty neat - totally makes sense to check there (on the river) although it took me a bit to get there and don't know if I would have been able to connect those dots live easily (before seeing this play); super curious as to what your opponent held haha... assuming K4h plus some paired low card but dang haha
34:00 While his range seems pretty clearly tied to straights, flushes and nut lows, I think 2:1 is a fair price. My thinking is that a naked A3 should bet this river. If you are folding 66 here, he needs to drive out your high and it will work very, very often. How often will YOU have A3 here, not often. If you do have A3, I doubt you have enough to raise. He is never folding A3 if he checks. His chances of getting raised and getting quartered seem really remote I agree that a pot sized bet is harder to call and maybe you should fold since you simply cannot win the whole pot.
Question. Since the preflop equities run so close in PLO8 games. When short stacked in a tournament say 15bbs or less, is it better to just flat raises from out of position instead of 3betting hands like A3JT let's say with suited Ace. Thoughts?
Bart, what is your opinion on bovada being rigged for action? Heard it from multiple people and played on there once or twice and some thing definitely seemed off about it in my opinion, please let me know thank you
18:30 I am very curious to see what he had. My first thought was AA2, but he did not raise pre flop. I am already thinking his play is odd since the pre flop raiser is so likely to bet this for him. If he had some kind of bluff like A25x, he would be betting the river, I would think. Maybe he has A23x. Maybe he has AAxy with nut clubs and a bad low draw or no low draw. But none of these reads feels right. To be honest, the way he has played this hand looks like he made a BIG mistake at some point, but when that happens, card reading gets a lot, lot harder.
Haha like 5 mins ago I commented on another of your videos about online donks on the button checking the nuts on the river and then I see this guy just call with quads. Well if you read that comment at least now I know you won't think I was lying lol
14:40 I love these hands in limit O8 when I have good position. The suited King is a big card since my "gin card" is now the suited Ace and I will have a monster draw quite a few times and I will often have enough equity to peel a turn even if my flop is so-so. However....I doin't call a raise unless I am in the pot for a full big blind. I figure the card removal caused a raiser usually having an Ace or two makes this marginal hand unplayable. Is that too tight?
does crushLP have a library of short deck training? i know its a newer format, am wondering if you guys have produced any content on this format (triton 6+ NLHE short deck). upswing has a course but its outrageously priced 👎
Good stuff. Hi lo is popular here in dallas as well. Although no one can ever agree on the name for the 5 card games i.e Congress=5 card hi lo and Big O= 5 card hi only; some places its vice versa, do you know which is actually correct?
Big O and Congress are both Hi/Lo but just different names for different regions of the country. Some places may put on Bravo "Big O hi only". Where I'm from 5 card Hi only is called Bush.
The fact that the game is Hi-Lo does not make the rake worse. But since the edges are smaller, a limit O8 game can have a lower overall edge for a good player and that can have a big impact on your EV. Suppose you play in a game with an average rake of 3%. (This would happen when the pots are typically double the max rake). Now suppose your edge is 6%. You only gain 3%. In a good limit hold'em game, you edge can be much higher.
