The great game of Pot Limit Omaha is arguably the most profitable poker game to play in the modern era. The average PLO player tends to be much less studied than the average No Limit Hold'em player, so you can gain a big edge by learning the fundamentals. That's what this episode of Upswing Poker Level-Up is here to teach you as high stakes PLO specialist Dylan Weisman joins Mike Brady.

Lots of hate on this vid in the comments but i assume from experience PLO players but for someone like me who has played zero PLO, this interview is spot on. The bottom guy is very succinct in his answers which experienced players don't need further translation or context from the host, but new players like me do so it is appreciated. I think the haters just don't realize the target audience here

People forget that these videos are for newer players or those looking to get better in a specific spot. Experienced players seem to be here to look for help in their games for free when they should be paying for proper coaching.

Good Stuff. Thanks ! Should have listened before I bubbled the FT of the Bracelet event yesterday. Haven't really studied much PLO, but have played a lot of PLO8, good to brush up the concepts and think I would of adjusted a couple of plays.

A tribal casino, the largest in the area, had a fairly large poker room with regularly scheduled tournaments. They had a PLO tourney I didn't know about until I was told it was ending on a certain date, which, meant 5 more tournaments. So, I had to get in. I won 4 out of the 5 tournaments and came in 2nd in the 5th one. I like PLO! but only tournaments, playing live PLO is like setting a wheelbarrow of cash on fire.

Wow. Yet another of your videos that I have added to my "Watch again" list. (And I do watch them again!) I've paused at 22:45, so I apologize if you answer this question later. You said that bet sizing for the preflop aggressor should be 67% on dynamic boards, 50% on straight boards (I assume this means rainbow, though you didn't actually say it), and 33% on paired and flush boards. You didn't say this out loud, but I'm going to guess that these sizes are because if you are betting, you want to bet more on boards where the nuts is very likely to change by the river. The paired and flush boards are not dynamic and therefore you can afford to make a smaller bet. Is this right? Do we have the same situation as in hold'em c-bets that the smaller your bet size the higher your bet frequency?

I would love to see a video from you guys on 6-card PLO. Not even sure if it's beatable, but i assume it is because there are plenty of regs who are playing the highest stakes available every single day. It's also a very interesting game.
@777shacob8
@777shacob8 5 месяцев назад
It's certainly beatable. But I would say the most important street is preflop
@FractalAgent.777
@FractalAgent.777 5 месяцев назад
@@777shacob8 That's weird, because as i've been playing it, the more hands i've played preflop, the better i've tended to do, like literally playing 80% of hands from UTG. Whenever i've tried to play tighter, i always end up in some situation where i end up opening, getting potted, then re-potted, and i have triple suited AAxxxx or something like that, and end up having 13% equity in a 4way all-in, wondering why the hell i even bothered waiting for a good hand, when the guy with the best equity, was the guy with some random rundown gapper with two non-nut suits. I'm not sure whether to see situations like this as coolers, or whether i've made some fatal error somewhere that could've been avoided. I think you're probably right though, i'm probably just running good when i play more hands, so it's lucky you told me that preflop is actually important, because i was beginning to think i should just be playing almost everything preflop, possibly literally everything, the game is swingy as all living fuck from what i can tell, so it's hard to get any kind of reliable feedback from your results, and i don't have access to any kind of PLO6 solver, if those even exist. So i don't really know what to rely on when it comes to studying. Any advice?

AA78 doesn't really have much in the way of connectivity. All it has for connectivity is a single two card holding, 78. This is extremely poor connectivity for a PLO hand. It is of course still a hyper premium holding.

Slide error at 8:04 - the hands at the bottom that we open/don't open in early position should be "A ♠T♥9♥8♦ (but NOT) A♠T♥9♥6♦." The difference is Dylan was talking about ten-high suited versions of those hands. The ace-high suit versions (which are shown in the slide) are both opens from early position. Ace-high suits are fucking good in PLO!

my biggest argument with my home game is how to determine the lo. I always say to count down from the highest card and the older players are insistent that you count up and that A/2 is automatic winner. I cant find a good clarification of this.
@TheVitalTiger
@TheVitalTiger 8 месяцев назад
Wrong game... This vid's on high only, but you would count from the highest card down... A2 isn't always the automatic winner, IE, 572KK board, A3 of course would be, etc... So we'd say they have the 7532A low or a 7 low... A2 well wouldn't have a low since the 2 is counterfeited. But if they had A24Q, then they have 5742A for 2nd nut low.

Guys - I use Upswing & your content is great & I appreciate your content so please continue with it. However, @Mike please it "may" drive even more business if you - Please ease up with the over annunciation of every word. It makes it difficult to listen for a longer period & I want to listen :) I am certain you're intelligent, but to attack every word in the english dictionary with a monotone voice & over annunciation is a tough listen. I can't be the only one who might appreciate a bit of a change in the delivery. If I am - then continue on as is - it's not you then, it's me :)
