The barely human-influenced edge of the pond is one of the last examples of a natural body of still water surrounded by forests.
A few years ago, there was still an open water surface, but today the forest pond is completely overgrown with reeds.
The silting process continues unabated and could soon lead to the displacement of the reed beds by the adjacent grey willow thickets.
