Potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) is a chemical agent with a multitude of uses (disinfectants, treatment of dermatological wounds or treatment of non-drinking water are some of its properties). This compound has the property of being a strong oxidising agent, which justifies its reactivity and toxicity.
Used erroneously for many years in aquarium keeping, in this video I would like to invite you to go to the thinking corner, for the good of the hobby itself, and with the intention of making you understand why the use of this product should disappear in aquariums.
One of the first questions I received, in the first videos of this channel project was ... my opinion about the use of this compound to fertilize potassium in the aquarium ... imagine what was my face before such a question. I was surprised by the lack of knowledge, on the part of many hobbyists, of certain chemical compounds and their properties or methods of use.
In this video (of a mature and well-founded personal opinion), I simply want to make each of you reflect and look for more information (but good information ... no social networks or old myths), so that at least in this attempt to search, you begin to understand the true nature of this chemical compound, and why we should make it disappear from the vocabulary, from the things used, in this wonderful hobby that is the aquarium hobby.
