That foliage is way way way way too healthy looking to be harvesting them now. Many grand blessings everyone

Your video is a great reminder of the value of patience and perseverance. It takes a lot of time and effort to grow and harvest melons and oranges, but the end result is so worth it. And the fact that you're able to make a living by selling them at the market is even more impressive. Keep up the great work! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.

The total weight of the two homemade compost buckets was slightly higher than the total weight of the two with shop compost and potato fertiliser. I'd be sticking with homemade as long as it gives the most bigger potatoes. Thank you for making the video 🙂

I cut the tops off my Charlotte (in 30litre tubs) then stack the tubs in the garage. They last all the way through to January that way, as the compost slowly dries & prevents the potatoes from becoming dessicated. Then in January, the last couple of tubs give me my next year's seed potatoes. Four years on & no sign of virus or other problems.
@GARDENER42
@GARDENER42 11 месяцев назад
From experience, give Charlotte at least 95 days & preferably more for the maximum harvest (115 days this year in my case). I wait until the tops are completely yellow before cutting them off touse or store.

Interesting results and lovely harvest. I've done a similar thing with 20 buckets, all home made composts; 2 yr composted dog poo, 2yr woodchip, and thermophillic some with BF&B some without, all main crop not quite ready yet

That’s an interesting experiment. Let me know the results please. 👍
@glassbackdiy3949
@glassbackdiy3949 11 месяцев назад
@@leatonveg the results are finally in, no clear winner, average was 7.3lb, lowest was 6.1lb from composted dog poo, but so was the highest at 9lb (this did have 1 single spud just shy of 2lb which bumped it up) most were 6.5-7.5 with no clear winner/loser, plucking flowers dint seem to make any difference, adding BF&B dint seem to make any difference, the thermophillc compost with BF&B had the best looking plants for the longest period (waxy leaves, no leaf spots, vibrant) I was convinced these would be the winners, but that din't seem to translate into higher yeild overall when I tipped them out. I sowed carrots into the tubs as I cropped the spuds, seems to be going well, think I'll repeat sucsession this nxt yr too.

What a brilliant and informative video. I just wonder what the results would have been with home-made compost and the added fertiliser? Leaving the flowers on? But I know to leave the flowers on all of mine now.. thank you so much for a great video Jase 😀

Wow them Potatoes looked great...I'm really new to home growing veggies etc, I'm growing everything in pots, I've done about 10 potatoes pots so looking forward to my very first ever harvest.. I worked out how much it cost me to grow my own & to be honest with shop bought compost plus bit of feed its more expensive than buying a bag from supermarket, but I'm hoping the taste will be worth it.. Great informative video. Thankyou

I have a question, I know you can’t eat the green potatoes but can you replant them?
@leatonveg
@leatonveg 3 месяца назад
Hi. Potatoes need a rest period from harvest to the following spring before planting to grow properly. I’m not sure storing green ones that long would work as they may rot.
