I like the story of distant cousin Michaelin Baille going to the Pooten Confessions, also Thank you for showing me how to make very fine Poitín, I have not got all my equipment place, I am ready to roll and will start brewing in my garden shed, in the back garden tomorrow, only one difference I will be using gas for fuel, I know that it will be a great success and I will shear it with my neighbors, one who happens to be a policeman, he has offered to take turns to help me,

So it was alright for Father Connolly if you purchased your whisky from the official maker and paid taxes to the English but a sin if you made your own and paid US English taxes, bless him, I am sure we spent it well.

Everything looks good and he acts like he knows what he is doing....then comes the galvanized bucket..! Wtf...why the hell does he think it's ok to fill that damned bucket with his product..?
@Lee-nh5bb
@Lee-nh5bb 2 года назад
Will it taint the flavour? Should it be wood?
@kalleklp7291
@kalleklp7291 2 года назад
@@Lee-nh5bb Probably not but it's not a safe material to use. Every distiller and hobbyist that has knowledge of distilling will agree that only copper, stainless steel, or glass, is considered safe materials. Glazed clayware may be used to store it as long as the glaze doesn't contain heavy metals such as cadmium, etc. That galvanized bucket can and will leach zinc into your spirit. Over time it will also rust making it completely clear that it's not good. Making your own spirits is fun but only when it's done safely. :) Of course, wood is also an option as long as it is natural wood. The best whiskey casks are made out of oak or cherry wood. Some also use old sherry casks for the purpose of maturing the whiskey or whisky (depending on where you live). Newer compromise on safe materials and safety regarding distilling...that's how people get sick or even die.
