Hi Guys. Apparently !upfront in the Dominican Republic, is the Safest Caribbean Harbour, and is cheap to have a mooring there, but do not Anchor or Run Your Watermaker there, as it is very Growy for weed. The RU-vid Channel Emily and Clark's Advenfure has full instructions on how to get in, plus has insights into what the place offers for the Boating community. I might look in there outside of Hurricane Season as it seems a nice place, but my Hurricane Season Schedule, is planned to be for visiting friends in Massachusetts, plus having annual Haulout and inspection, servicing, etc done in a Brilliant Boatyard there - I like annual haulouts at places I trust 100% - this yard can even get applying Copperzcoat Antifouling Properly, without my full time supervision, and that is incredibly Rare, sad to say. Keep Safe and Best Wishes. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️

Hi Guys. Something I have noticed over the years about Stainless Steel, and for instance, it really doesn't like Salt Water, such that it causes Mi ro Cracking, so what does Stainless zsteel Like ? Well it seems to like being Polished and it seems to love Vaseline - Which is just Petroleum Jelly, cheaper than Vaseline - So with Standing Rigging, I'm going to try applying Petroleum Jelly with a Micro Fiber Cloth, and really rub it into the 1x19 Wire Strands, from the top down to Deck level, then from about 6ft above the Deck use a heat gun to run the Petroleum Jelly into the wires and into the Deck level fixings, and keep applying it u till it is clear everything is well coated, then once everything is cool, po ish up the wires well with Clean dry micro fiber cloths - then see how they fare in coming years. I'll follow up with how things are panning out, and it may prevent the first signs of trouble, which is brown Staining of the wires ? All the best. Bob in Wales. 🤔🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍❤️

What are your water tanks constructed of? Aluminium tanks do not appreciate sodium chloride, they start to react and it dissolves the welds.

On our RV I use some RED food coloring mixed in with the beach water. Easier to see it when you fill the lines and insure that it is totally cleared out of the holding tank after flushing the bleach water. LOL, I just got off of Mr Weatherman a few minutes ago, another possible hurricane in the future? Debby was nasty here along the Florida Gulf Coast.

How often should one perform the mast inspection?
@SailingZephyr

It's a matter of personal preference. But we will always do an inspection before any multi day passage and then about every 3 months. Also, if you are putting lots of miles as we tend to do...then we will do it more frequently. Hope that helps.

Sailboat - A machine lost in time and forever timeless... A modern device still dependent on the principles of levers, mechanical advantage, and block and tackle... equipment more appropriate to the building of a pyramid than the moving of a yacht.

Hmm. Post went missing. In case it doesn't come back link to a video which spells out the Best Place in the Caribbean you can provision up your boat, and anchoring is free from which you can go shopping. , also warns about the expense of places like the BVI the place I'll be based lol. PS. I have issues with Chris over his treatment of Crew Members, which is inexcusable, but he does frequently provide some seriously good insights and advice, which can save people a ton of money. Bob. 👍❤️
