In local usage it isn’t. Geographically it is. That’s what they teach you in school up there. It is part of the Scandinavian peninsula however it is ethnically not Nordic like Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. Sweden ruled over it. It’s like the whole “Oceania” deal though people still call it Australia even though it’s a couple of different countries and you learn it’s a continent in Europe. Greetings from Finland
@@Engifarting456 the mongolians never went anywhere near finland, finland is a mix of nords, slavs and sapmi folk originally from the Ural mountains of Siberia, they are closer to Siberians than anything else, alongside Estonia
The majority of these are just random historical countries that don't have any real separation movement, the only ones that are even slightly likely are Venice and Scotland.
00000 00000 There is a surprisingly large amount of Venetian nationalism in the province, and many polls (with a very high turnout) claim that 91% of the people that voted want an independent Veneto. If Italy held a referendum and the polls were even slightly accurate. They could get their independence.
Sherlock No,there are few drunk ignoant people who clai m all venetians are for indipendence, which is false. And they could never achieve indipendence like that, the Constitution forbid it
Most of the separatist movements showed here are nothing but jokes. For example, there is no separatist movement at the level of Transylvania. There is only a small autonomy movement in only 2 eastern counties, inhabited mostly by hungarians. Karelia, Ingria, Occitania, Sapmi, etc. are other bad jokes.
Silesia is the biggest, it doesnt even has independence movement and in addition this guy marked Wrocław as capital of Silesia but its not even in this part of Silesia that was ,,independent"
Why not Sapmi? I believe there IS a strong self-determining movement among Samis - if not for full independence, than for as great as possible cultural autonomy. In all 4 (current) countries they live in.
Same can be said about Transnistria, Abkhazia and South Osetia but they are not recognized by most of the countries. Last two are recognized by Nauru though and I find it weird.
Super Cat no they aren’t. They are devolved jurisdictions of Westminster. At any moment parliament can dissolve all governing organs within Scotland wales and NI, further they don’t have nearly enough sovereignty and devolved powers to be classified as countries under UN criteria. Wales doesn’t even have its own minor judiciary, The law of England and Wales is literally known as English Law, or Common Law.
The uk in itself is a sovereign state and a country Scotland, Wales and England are all countries that make this up, but are not a sovereign state by itself Come on guys this took like 2 seconds of research
Stinky_ _Llama3152 you mean you looked at the first source that came up. Legally they are not countries. Countries require certain degrees of sovereignty in order to be classed as such. The devolved jurisdictions do not have this, Westminster statute is supreme over all other assemblies. Further all devolved jurisdictions can be dissolved at any time under legislation. For Christ sake wales doesn’t even have its own legal system. The UK is a Unitary state, not a federation.
newjust fun hahaha grate joke, hahaha Swiss in EU , from heaven of Democracy to EU hell parliamentary dictatory. Swiss is the only democratic country of the world. the rest believe, have an illusion thst live in Democracy but they csn not feel yet that they live in dictatory I am Greek but a certify that Ancient Greek Democracy lives only in Switzerland. Greek Ioannis Kapodistrias made the model of Democracy 180 years ago and this model works perfect to new era. Here in my country, we have the typical parliament dictatory, the stupid British model
DIMITRIS KALIGERIS everything has to do with ancient Greeks , wtf man ancient Greeks discriminated others calling them Barbar they wrote two sentences and now democracy is there , democracy in Ancient Greek means the laws of the country it doesn't mean what democracy means today , the French , reinvented democracy what we know today , ancient Greece didn't have democracy, Ancient Greece had aristocracy, stop talking shit malaka
newjust fun Switzerland, the German speak part is a good democracy and great example in the world , the French speaking part of Swiss is lazy , the Italian part of Swiss is corrupt, the German part is amazing
You're dreaming with most of these. Here are the rational ones: Scotland, Catalonia, Basque Country, Faroes, Flanders, Wallonia, Herzeg-Bosnia, Republika Srpska, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, united Ireland.
Bosnia can't fall apart, it's impossible We are country under contract (Dayton agreement). If RS or H-B try to separate Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, USA and I believe Russia and Turkey will have to act with military force to prevent it.
Matthew McVeagh if srpska and herzeg bosna seperate than that would create huge land problems because both of those are split in half they have to be a part of Bosnia whether they like it or whether they like another war
Portugal in Iberia. ... why should we give up our country, our language and culture. Spain keeps saying that they are rich and we are poor but they have been saying that for almost 900 years. And by the way they're not that rich and we're not that poor. PORTUGAL FOREVER.

TheAtheistGamer yes, Scotland for sure, and the part of Ireland that is in the UK. Well, I am really not Bavarian but i live here, and i kind of think there are somewhat anti-German spirits, people laugh at the way northern germans speak, Bavarian policy and culture are altogether quite different. stallion447 Netherlands, Italy and Austria have not even qualified for this year's world cup so it is easy to imagine this Holy Roman Empire Nationalmanschafft not being dominant or even winning any titles for decades. Austria could contribute only Alaba as an improvement for German squad. Besides, people were saying that United west Germany and east Germany will be winning every cup, but look how many did they win since 1990.
Turtle, countries having a single bad year says nothing at all, all those countries have been doing great for many years with there always being at least one of them in the final instead of this year. Since 1966, only once none of those countries made it to the finals... The same can not be said about Iberia, Spain only made it to the finals once in FIFA WC history and Portugal hasn't made it to the final even once...
The thing is, there are no reasons for these specific countries to form, meaning that you basically just stated out some random crap about provinces of countries.
Most Finns don't care about Aland and most of them have never been there. They also think Swedish is a stupid and useless language. Aland should go back to Sweden but most Alanders prefer Finland for "some reason"( Russo-phobia).

@Blitz101 It actually is. Ask yourself this: Is England a country? You would say yes if you knew what you were talking about. England is recognised as a part of the UK, so doesn't that give Wales the same right?

Keep living with that wet dream of yours. I probably don't need to remind you that the Turkish military is one of the world's most capable and way more powerful than what you Greeks call your army? The only reason Greece still exists is because of the support of the European Union. How much longer will they support the failure of a state called Greece? dennark isnt a part of the scandinavian peninsula, but we still call it a part of scandinavia. And if it isnt called scandinavia, what else should we call it? United kingdoms and republics of northern europe? Fennoscandia, iceland, greenland, the faroes and svalbard? or simply, Northern europe?
Thanks for a very interesting video. Although there are many opinions and remarks, some of your propositions are supported by history. If one looks of the map of Europe now and has no knowledge of history, one cannot even imagine how different the map of Europe was even 150 years ago. So, yes, in the future, depending on the local conditions, countries like those described here could come to life, although some of them appear to be fantasy, now. But, it is an interesting view, though, not leaving any part of Europe alone. It might include some subliminal propaganda, but only time will tell about the evolution of this continent.
Fine! I suppose I'll be the only non-aligned voice here. Full list, regionally divided. Note that this is based on the political situation of Europe, September 2018. Central Europe Bavaria: The amount of support that it would need is Beer Hall Putsch-level. The current amount of support there is simply too small to upheave one of the most institutionalised European states. I could see a sliver of more autonomy, but that's all. Silesia and Moravia: It could happen, but there would be no point. Czechia and Moravia and Poland and Moravia are integral parts of each other, and being apart would only bring bad things. Besides, support has dwindled a lot recently, even with the EU's current situation. Eastern Europe Abkhazia/South Ossetia: Unlikely. An independent Abkhazia/Ossetia would only happen if Russia was able to enforce its position in the region. Which it seems to be unable to, at least for the moment. Karelia: Hmm. Increased autonomy here is actually somewhat plausible, but it won't be independent unless Russia itself collapses. It is too valuable as a military region, especially considering proximity to the Arctic. Ingria: Imagine the United States simply letting the entire San Francisco Bay area become an independent state. This has an even lower chance than that. Nagorno-Karabach: About as likely as a genocide of ethnic Armenians. Oh wait... Konigsberg: I could certainly see it being annexed by Poland in some sort of deal. But it is far too underdeveloped to support itself as an independent country. I do hear it has some nice bunkers though. Novorossiya: Only if Ukraine gives in to Russia. But even then, it's more likely that the region would simply be annexed by Russia itself. Union State of Russia and Belarus: May as well already exist. Belarus is mini-Russia, very dependent on... basically EVERYTHING from its own version of Big Brother. Northern Europe Aland Islands: Not going to happen. With 'only' 28 thousand people, most independence support there is a result of frustration of being disputed by Finland and Sweden. Faroe Islands: Same argument as above, but replace 'Finland and Sweden' with 'Denmark and Britain.' Isle of Man: No. Just no. NO! Scotland: If Brexit negotiations go smoothly, there will be a very irritated Scotland. If they don't, independence is very likely. 45%-55%ish was very surprising. (I do agree with the notion that Scotland is a nation, just not a 'sovereign' one, due to the whole 'United Kingdom' thing. Whatever that means...) United Ireland: Actually quite likely, especially if Britain falls apart (read: loses Scotland) due to Brexit and such. Wales: Not going to happen. Unless London, Manchester, Liverpool, etc., are all nuked into oblivion. Then I might reconsider that. Sapmi: Somehow finding a way to unify a huge swath of land currently occupied by three extremely well-refined/developed countries and a land-based military powerhouse? Good luck. Scandinavia: The Scandinavian nations have very peaceful relationships with each other (most of the time...) but not THAT close. Southern Europe Corsica: It relies too much on the French mainland, and vice versa, thereby making it just about impossible. Sardinia: I admit, Italy has been quite unstable recently. If the Italian peninsula breaks up because of nationalism vs EU, expect Sardinia to go early. Otherwise, no. Padania and Mezzogiornio: As I said for Sardinia, I could see a N/S split of Italy over the EU issue. So maybe, but not very likely. North Cyprus: It already exists. According to Turkey. ugh... the United States is unlikely to let Turkey challenge its naval supremacy, which is a very likely confrontation. So no. Iberia: I have to agree with the other comments here... don't make stuff up. Western Europe Brittany and Normandy: From what I've researched, movements for independence have been nearly nonexistent since World War Two. Enough said. Catalonia: This is a situation that is only going downhill. On this list, Catalonia has one of the highest possibilities for independence, but Spain will simply not give in here. Independence, shall you choose to accept it, will be a long, bloody battle between the Spanish police force and the Catalan. I have serious doubts that the armed forces will be used- such a show of force would probably ignite a civil war, something Spain really doesn't need right now. Flanders and Wallonia: The arguments for independence are perfectly logical. But that doesn't mean that it should happen- Belgium is capable of unity. Galicia and Basque: If Catalonia finds suitable means to practice an armed revolt, Galicia and Basque will too. But as I said before, not happening unless Madrid does something drastic. Occitania: Take my explanation for Sapmi, and put it on steroids. Simply put: NO. Quite Literally Anything In The Balkans Sure. Why not. Welcome to ethnic-enclave land. Where we practice a perfect blend of anarchy, fascism, and devout Catholicism. No, really. United States of Europe No. While I personally hope that Europe as a whole can unite in some way, it will certainly not be a 'United States,' or with our current political system and there are a very large amount of nationalists/patriots who believe it infringes on sovereignty. Both ideas are correct, but a compromise between the two is the best way to ensure mutual prosperity. But today? No. And while I don't have anything against the Turkish or Turkey, it probably shouldn't be a part of such a united Europe; it has its own separate set of problems right now. Thank you.
Until near the end most of the countries predicted to form by secession were too far-fetched (except Scotland and bifurcation of Belgium) and those predicted to form by unification were way too optimistic (especially United States of Europe, which included Turkey as well).

Can all the Baltic states unite and transform into the Baltic state? It’s flag is a try colour of Estonian blue at the top, the Latvian white in the middle and lithuanian red below Latvian white and each tri colour will have a star in the middle, Blue will have the northern flag ( a star with a Nordic cross) white will have the middle star (a star with a -- line in the middle) and the southern star will have an arrow pointing south
Finland, Poland and three Baltic State separated from Rusia 100 years ago, when Russia was weak after First World War and in civil war 1918-1921. Now this is impossible. Putin will never agree.
Why didnt they put together Greece and Cyprus as a united country? Cypriots and Greeks are the same nation and they have a flag which represents the union
That's because the Turks in northern Cyprus wanted their own language their rights and to protect their Muslim religion, That's why they decided to set up their own independent country in North Cyprus and don't want to join Cyprus with Greece, the country they hate. Many talks have failed to unite the country.
Karellia cant get independence not after what Stalin did... moved most of the native people there and scattered them to Siberia after they had conquered parts of Finlands Karellia in Winter War and now it is mostly russians there Also that part on map is wrong since Finland owns parts of Karellia and Karellian Isthmus is part of Karjala too. Yes its real name is Karjala or that is what Finns and Karellians themself call it.
