I have about 350 hours with my GameSir G7SE, it still feels like day 1, even in Gamepad Tester it shows the same result as day 1. I bought an extra one because I have never in my 16 years on Xbox played with a controller that is so good.

Yes the controller is amazing. My unit did develop alot of play on the right stick and I have fair amount of drift, but thanks to the amazing manual calibration I was able to redistribute the drift equally, which really helps to avoid drift with much smaller deadzones. I do wish they release a model with trigger stops and 4 back buttons.

I really want a PRO model of GameSir G7 SE, yes trigger stops I also want and if they could find inspiration from the Elite controller I will buy it immediately, we are someone who is willing to pay 100-150$ if the quality gets a boost.

@@Xlander111I believe that trigger stops are not necessary, because the software itself has a function that if you click very lightly on the triggers it counts as if you had already pressed the full trigger. Almost as if it were a mouse, a very light click would count as everything pressed

As a big Soulsborne, character action game, fighting game, and retro-gaming guy, I may be in the minority that buttons on controllers are a bigger failure point on controllers than joysticks for me. Right now there are only two choices for buttons, membrane or tactile switches. Membrane are more durable from my experience, but lack actuation accuracy and feedback. Tactile switches are less durable from my experience despite being marketed as the opposite. Tactile switches usually end up succumbing to double-click or missed-click inputs way before their rated millions of presses lifecycle. Else they develop what I call, "actuation slop", where they start to loose that distinct clicky feedback and become mushy-feeling the longer you use them. They may even become harder to actuate over time as they wear out. Yet they have great actuation accuracy and feedback. Shoulder buttons are a whole other animal as all Xbox-style controllers seem to have issues with failing shoulder buttons due to their lever-like design as opposed to Nintendo or PlayStation controllers that have a traditional button design. I wish there were controllers on the market that focused on a traditional, bare-bones controller that had extremely high-quality buttons and dpad. The closest I have found is the FlyDigi Vader 3 Pro. Yet after only maybe 250 hours of game time, the tactile switches are starting to develop slop and do not feel great.
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 10 месяцев назад
Bro thanks you so much sharing your experience. I honestly thought the micro switches with 5 million rated life cycle would be better, but that double register I’ve read a lot about. To me personally it doesn’t matter if I use the membrane or the nicer feeling micro switch, the lifespan is the thing that’s important. The normal tact switches used in Xbox bumpers and most of rear buttons have so many different versions, some are rated for 2m presses and some only 100k, so which controller is using which one is hard to find, but the life expectancy changes drastically between different variants.

Everybody uses mouse style swtches, they will get the same problems. Optical mouse swtches could fix that but they are a bit More expensive. Personally I like these SE membrane buttons, they are silent and responsive.

I've been using the thrustmaster eswap pro for about 3 years, the sticks started drifting and erroring recently, and there are no sensibly priced sticks to buy in order to take advantage of the hot swap feature. So I unscrewed the sticks from their plastic enclosures, sprayed isopropyl alcohol into them, moved them around a bunch, then blew them out with canned air. They are almost back to working new again.

Instead of alcohol try using CRC Electronic Cleaner and then, after it dries out, add Silicone Lubricant to them. (I used the Blaster branded one from AutoZone or Walmart). They work beautifully. 300+ hours and no jitters or random spikes 🥰…

Hey this is what I mean, so you’ve had terrible drift experiences and I know the Hall effect is going to be so good as you won’t have to deal with that . Then you have someone like me who hasn’t dealt with a drift that’s game breaking, honestly makes me wonder if the drift is due to something out of our control I-e manufacturing issues or bad batches, and it’s pure luck where some have no issues and others who have issues buy the product again only to find the new one was manufactured around the same time and gets same issues.

@@thephototechy I had something like this happen to me, i bought a ps5 controller and it got drift, and then i went to swap it for another one, and it was before they did that whole numbering scheme that was like "this one has a 0 or an A at the end (cant remember) so this one will last longer" ), so i swapped it for one that didnt have that change, and before the year ended i developed drift again, and i got so pissed for wasting 200bucks on that crap that i wont ever use potentiometers again, but if i can find a controller with good potentiometers i would be more than happy to use it since its something that i am more used to. I used to have a ps3 controller that lasted a loooong time, from 2016 to 2022 and the sticks were still good, the only thing that gave out were the bloody buttons that wouldnt register anymore, but they had 0 drift issues after years of violent usage, so its probably indeed manufacturing defects. I also have a friend that had 2 Xbox one controllers and they had the same age, but the one he spent less time on, got drift, and the one that was his favorite all customized and all was still good with no drift. I don't play nearly as much as I used to, but I still use a ~5 year old Battle Beaver DS4 with hundreds of hours on it. It does have some drift on the left stick, but the right stick is still perfectly fine, like your Elite controller. I do have a Gamesir G7 SE but I'm going to keep using my DS4 until it's unusable. Right now I've just increased the deadzone on the left stick of my BB DS4 and it's fine... IMO the left stick isn't as important because that's just for movement rather than aiming. I definitely know what you mean in regards to hall effect sticks vs potentiometers. To be it feels like the G7 SE has less tension and it gives the sticks a 'floaty' feeling where there's little to no resistance. That could be good or bad for some. For me, I prefer a bit more tension as I feel it gives me better control over my aiming. But like you said, it doesn't take a long time to get used to it, but I personally prefer the feel of my DS4 sticks better. Or maybe I'm just used to it, I dunno. I notice some custom controller makers are including hall effect sticks with the option of higher tension. That could be the best of both worlds. Unfortunately, I'm no longer willing to spend that much on a controller anymore because of my heavily reduced game time.

The pot sticks do have better spring feel compare to the hall sticks. Idk why but they always give hall sticks such weak springs as if the stick itself not smooth enough already, and those weak springs will wear out faster than the springs from pot sticks.

@@thephototechy Gamesir Hall (KSilver) stick have lower housing, it means that the centering spring feels more tensioned due to the higher deformation percentage. As a result guess it wears out faster. Guli kit uses tall boxes (apls style) and their sticks feel a bit different. Don't know about the longevity though. In theory alps models could get hall sensors, and it would feel and degreade the same way. This is not about it being Hall Effect or not, this is about the mechanical part of the sticks. And yes, it is a blessing that GameSir lets us recalibrate worn out sticks, that should be possible with the default Pot sticks as well, but their software is silly. I have no clue how to custom calibrate my Series X controllers, that I like very much. They went offcenter though, and I hate rising the deadzone in RocketLeague above 0.05. We shall see how long the T4Kaleid (ksilver) mechanical part will last regarding center position.

They are lower tension, some cherry swtches have low tension yet they are ultra durable and many people prefer that. The metal choice Is the determining factor, as well as the housing of the spring or torsion system. As for this ksilver hall switch, it Is already one year old, stick breaker players have been all over It in mass, yet It seems very hard to find someone with actual stick drift. I would say that It Is just an exception.

Hey snakebyte gamepd pro is a solid option, and I myself think Gambit is amazing with 2 back buttons installed. Performance wise they do differ a bit, gambit will have a true raw output with higher resolution but have a built in deadzone of around 3-4% it seems. Gamepd pro has lower resolution Hall effect sticks, but the lower resolution is needed to get that quick response it’s something I’ve come across on controllers with high resolution and Hall effect sticks, namely Nacon Rev 5 pro and the PS5 BFG with Epindon halleffect module, also Gamepad pro has a 3% built in deadzone as well.Triggers some would say would be a tie but I believe they are to be better on snakebyte, as my Gambit ones after losing tension had to be used with a longer pull. Back buttons location and feel is better on Gambit and those flat switches they have used are nice feeling, but I think snakebyte’s can take more abuse. Aiming is going to be something you’ll definitely have to consider, as Snakebyte will take a bit to get used to and Gambit will surely feel familiar.Longevity will definitely go to snakebyte in my opinion as I haven’t come across many issues mentioned about it, apart from something about the usb connector in one review on Amazon. You also need to factor that Snakebyte back button can’t be disabled and they don’t have Dpad on outs mappable, it’s not a dealbreaker for me but might be for you. I’d say either of them would be a solid option for cod if you are ok with only 2 back buttons. Let me know if you need to know anything else.

Thanks for a amazing answer. Truly a detailed respond and helpful. Hat off! I'm not 100% sure what you mean with "true raw output" (I'm from sweden😂) what does that transfer to in use of a controller? I will be fine with just 2 back buttons (I currently play with a TB recon and those BB feel great in placement for me) which one would you say is closest to those BB? I've read many reviews on the gambit were it falls apart and developed stick drift. So that is a concern. Not as much on the snakebyte other than the connection problem but that one isn't as well reviewed tough it's not been out for as long time. What I've come across the both have the same Hz and responsetime? The snakebyte is on sale right now but with shipping to Sweden the prices are about the same. Just can't make up my mind 😂. Or do you recommend any other controller? I would like trigger stops, good sticks and 3.5 jack (and I don't have the best headset ( Corsair hs50)). 😅

@@morganWirf13 ok the audio experience from Gambit is honestly not good, at least that’s been my experience and others have also mentioned this. Snakebyte is a decent performer but Xbox has the best audio from elite series2 where one can go worth out a dedicated audio device. Raw output basically means there is no software outer deadzone and the physical thumbstick gate serves as the deadzone, it’s something you experience on the turtle beach recon, by the way my channel started because of recon 😂. Snakebyte would definitely be the better option but be mindful that kontrolfreeks going to be an issue on snakebyte, if you use them. The back button’s honestly are better on Gambit if you use only 2, but snakebyte can perform very well too, you just need to use them a bit, as they are a bit harder to press when new. I think that’s coz snakebyte have used very strong tact switches. The only other options in the same price range I can think of, are Nacon Rev x and Gamesir G7se. PowerA fusion pro 3 is a decent controller but Nacon and Gamssirnhave it beat for aiming in my opinion. Issue with G7se currently is the 1000hz might be going away for good and without it Snakebyte definitely compete with it. Any of the options available be mentioned(snakebyte’s gamepad pro, Nacon Rev X & Gamesir G7se) will be a big improvement over the turtlebeach. But do bear in mind that HE sticks will feel different, so you’ll need to find new sensitivity settings for your play style. Have you checked what error rate your recon shows currently on gamepd tester? The sticks in the recon and other cheaper controllers do lose calibration quickly and sorta become more sensitive, but the recon actually have a manual calibration option which can make it perform a bit better if the calibration is showing a lot of error.
@morganWirf13
@morganWirf13 6 месяцев назад
Again, thanks for the quick and heat respond. Yes the reason I'm looking for a new controller is because of the stick drift on the recon. I tried the calibration thing and it didn't work sadly. Have to plat with 6-7 in game dz and I feel my aim is getting hurt by that. Also the right trigger doesn't register every quick press so single fire shots, like pistol, always ends up in a certain death 😂. Maybe a snakebyte with precision rings for some more tension would work 🤷‍♂️? I like the fact that the gambit have more customizability. Never tried a high rised stick for example. But if the snakebyte beats gambit with the sticks and are more stick drift prove maybe that overcome those features 🤷‍♂️.
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 6 месяцев назад
@@morganWirf13 hey so Snakebyte will surely last longer, but Gambit does have an amazing aim response and the actual feel of the favorunion sticks is truly something. The issue will be audio and also the product is considered old and if it’s same price of the gamepad pro then gamepd pro is the sensible option. Precision rings can sort of work on snakebyte but not very effectively as the sticks are a bit higher. Still it’s a possibility and I’ve used them on gamepd pro as well. Precision rings are very good to get used to a controller but keep in mind to get rid of them once you’ve gotten accustomed to the controller, that’s my practice hence I only use the green ones. Gamepd pro will surely be an upgrade over recon and if you’re making it your main controller, it’s a solid option. Only thing I find a little strange on Hall effect sticks is going back and forth with normal sticks, it sorta takes a little time to get used to them, but if you won’t be using the normal sticks much then yes snakebyte will surely be a great option. Definitely let me know which one you end up getting and maybe even share your thoughts, I find discussions like these help a lot of others as well.

Is there any delay in the controls with hall effect? I've heard that yes, because the signal needs to be processed, unlike the potentiometer.
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 8 месяцев назад
Hey so in my first ever review of the G7se I mentioned about the delay, but since then there’s been updates and the controllers are performing really well. I believe the lose spring used in Ksilver sticks is for this very reason, so we have a uniform tension and it makes up for a linear response. Normal sticks do feel a bit snappier from the get go but once I got used to HE sticks I actually prefer them now. G7se with 1000hz is an absolutely amazing performer, turtlebeach stealth ultra is using a lower resolution to sorta makeup for that response and does feel really good, and snakebyte also has a similar approach. For me the best feeling sticks are in thrustmaster Eswap controllers, then gambit but gambit has some forced deadzones. So against the thrustmaster sticks all the HE sticks I’ve tried have really low resolution but so does PS4 and PS5 controllers and people use them all the time.

So I really prefer the feel of the precision rings specially when the controller is new. The G7se sticks sits a tiny bit lower so the green ones are a bit tighter than usual, still the performance is great and once you get used to the response you can easily take them off. which controller is your main?
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 10 месяцев назад
Man thats a difficult qustion to answer, but I'll answer it which controller would I pick if I wasn't testing one for a review video. On PS5 it'll have to be the Edge, nothing wrong with BFG and Nacon Rev 5, but I have a feeling Sony is doing something so Edge is performing way better than the others(video coming soon on this) On Xbox I'm a bit spoilt for choice, if playing with only 2 back buttons then my top choices would be ROG Raikiri & Gambit, for 4 back buttons would be the EswapX first then the PowerA Fusion Pro3. This is the thing about Xbox as we have these 4 controllers that aim very different to each other, so smooth aiming Raikiri & Gambit perfect for 2 back buttons, EswapX and FP3 do have a bit hyper response so perfect for 4 back buttons.

Why does the g7 de sticks feel so clunky like choppy the joysticks on my old controllers never felt like it
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 4 дня назад
Hey bro so depending what you were using before, a lot could be the factor. Lower resolution if your other controller was an Xbox one, HE sluggish response feel if not used on 1000hz,. Personally I've found Ksilver sticks to perform best for me with linear response curve option in COD, but that's game depending as well.

I was thinking about buying a Gamesir G7 SE after learning about that hall effect thing but changed my mind after my recent purchased Gamesir T3S's left trigger stopped working after only 3 weeks of use, despite taking a lot of care of my controllers. I was lucky enough it happened after 3 weeks so I could send it back for a refund. I don't trust the Gamesir brand after that and I'm now looking for the EasySmx x10 hall effect controller.

Can You make One video about Why and How those Jittering issue is Coming! .. ( eswap s pro ) . Weekly once i had to open the module to fix the jittering!! I guess i opened more than 50 times till now !!
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 10 месяцев назад
Hey so my theory is this: the way I showed the potentiometer lose resolution and start to have move input at lower stick positions, so think this is happening but the software has a fixed output and not a true raw output. This could be why we see these jitters, I did notice that taking out the module from controller and putting back, with resetting the profiles on the controller by pressing map and profile buttons in for 10 seconds fixes the jitter at times, and I didn’t need to open the potentiometer pot.

As I expected HE are not yet up to competitive standards, but luckily I only play 3rd person games and use a controller 4-5 times a week so for me longevity and consistency is #1, that is why I went with T4 Kaleid as they have a linear response curve compared to the G7Se that has a non linear response curve, hence the different feel and adjustment period. I should note on T4K they made the response curve non linear similar to the G7SE via software update but if you downgrade it via Gamesirs 0.2.0 application on PC you have what in my opinion is one of the best controllers on the market sub 150 euro.

@thephototechy
@thephototechy 10 месяцев назад
Hey bro so I made a video about the response curve and PowerA FP3 is a bit hyper responsive. I’d say check the controller on hardware tester gamepad section, Particularly the range of motion, it should be reaching the 100% close to the edges of the physics thumbstick gate. One tip I can give you is to play with in game deadzones, if you feel the controller to be twitchy and you are overshooting the aim, then increases the minimum deadzones. I haven’t played the MW3 yet on the FP3 as I just finished testing the EswapX. I’ll be checking the FP3 in a day or two. What game are you using it on currently?

My second xbox360 elite controller drifted after 2 months which for £150 was a complete joke. I got a refund and won't buy them again. The first one I bought lasted only 1 year before shoulder button issue and drift started. I can't believe they charged so much for such internal trash. Doubly annoying because the controller feels amazing in the hand.

Hey bro so I've just reviewed the Fusion pro 4 and for comparison did a resolution test on the FP3 as well. PowerA does use a very different algorithm to others when it comes to stick output. I think it's their signature aim response and definitely not for everyone. I myself can't get used to the Fusion pro 4, which is a shame as I love the ergonomics of PowerA controllers.

g7se is so cheap its basically the same price as an xbox controller but the se comes with 2 back buttons. Like the power a controller I have but much better. The reason for getting a new controller was the stick drift and disintegrating joysticks on the 30$ power a controller I had. Got ps5 kontrol freeks to avoid the disintegrating joysticks on the g7se and the hall effect joysticks should help avoid stick drift. The power a controller lasted maybe 2 years with maybe 100hours of play on it.
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 10 месяцев назад
Wow thats really useful info bro, the cheaper PowerA controllers are using the cheapest Favorunion sticks and for them to last the time you've mentioned is truly something. It's so strange that people got stick drift so quickly then there are people like you and me who have seriously used controllers with very acceptable performance. hall effect sticks for sure will last a lot longer, I'm hoping for better versions of the modules coming as well, making them the best possible experience.

Microsoft controller have that stiff feeling on the sticks, I also have a Nintendo switch pro controller (which use potentiometer) but the sticks are really smooth and wonder why is that, maybe is have to do with the quality because my pro controller is still fully functional after 5 years of heavy use without any drift, my series X controller only took 5 month to develop a serious drift on the left stick. I got the G7Se and is so perfect and I really like the smooth feeling of the sticks, I just need a new version with wireless and I will never buy another xbox official controller again.
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 10 месяцев назад
Hey yea the G7se and snakebyte gamepad pro sticks feel very smooth. My G7se sticks got a lot of slop and I think it’s due to play style or could be my particular unit. I wish the spring in Ksilver modules had a bit more resistance. The day we get a controller with trigger stops and 4 back buttons with HE sticks, I think that’d be a time for me to switch completely on HE sticks. Nacon revolution 5 does that on PS5, but Sony is doing something strange where their party controllers can’t perform like dualsense Edge.

@@thephototechy The last time I looked at gamesir's youtube channel, the ceo mentioned that they are listening to all the requests from users (wireless, trigger stops, mechanical buttons, rubber grip, etc) and that they are working on them, it's only a matter of time before we see a new controller with all those features, one control to rule them all XD.
@thephototechy
@thephototechy 10 месяцев назад
@@Josh_Spectre ah man that’d be so good, I do hope they venture out and work with favorunion as well, their new Hall effect module looks super interesting to me. One thing that scares me a bit is the political side of things, companies from Hongkong get the license from Microsoft but mainland China based firms don’t, hence we haven’t seen any licensed controllers from Flydigi and others. I’m hoping going forward things will get better and we don’t have any friction with products from that region. Gamesir is definitely one of my favourite controller manufacturers, it’s a shame that I can only use the G7 duo and not the others on Xbox.
