Its lovely to see Warren Mackenzie working back then on his Leach wheel. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a workshop he was giving in Berkeley, CA at Trax gallery. He was so kind and gentle and very encouraging to me. We shared about pots, truth to material, and the importance of form, and life. I knew I was meant to be a potter the first time I touched clay, so having him confirm that I was on the right track was very special to me and I'll never forget it. He is a remarkable human being and my favorite potter.
I just love their humility . Yes i am being extremely sarcastic . They produce the pottery equivalent of shit and act like they are the new Renaissance masters . When there are potters in China and Japan who produce absolute masterpiece and are them , truly humble . Ah , americans , the sheer arrogance . And i am including Toshiko .
