Water from the tap goes cold. Boiler must be reset after a few mins to rectify. Website has been updated to says error code is 'PCB lock out' (printed circuit board) www.potterton.co.uk/error-e168/
In case you're having trouble, the engineer replaced several parts on a trial-and-error basis (filters & heat exchanger at heavy cost). The problem turned out to be the circuit board, which was showing error messages even though nothing was wrong. That needed replacing, approx £150. Boiler was fine all along!
Is it straightforward to replace the circuit board. I keep getting E168. Hot water is fine. Radiators work for about 10 mins then i get error message and have to reset boiler and normally works again.
Same I get with my heating, last about 10-30 minutes, then cuts out, but still makes the sound as if it is on! Is this eating up my money even though it isn't actually doing F all apart from flashing up E168?
I did a 10 second RESET and mine worked again. Initially my pressure was low and I refilled it but the E168 message kept coming on. Then I ran the hot water tap on and hit the RESET button and held it for 10 seconds. The yellow pilot light came on and it's been fine since.
main heat exchanger is leaking and by running the hot water you are increasing the pressure and that allows the boiler to fire up. remove the burner and you will see
I use the same method to get my boiler working again. Same Error Code E168. Sometimes I can't get any hot water for the whole day!I keep my hair short so that's a bit easier to handle, but poor girls with long hair and the same E168 code. :(
My boiler main eco 30 pilot light not coming .I tried to reset lots of time.but still not coming on.actually before fuse was gone in the fuse box.i changed the fuse but pilot light not coming on.E 133 code is coming, which means something to do with gas supply.three days ago fuse went I called somebody he changed the fuse and turned pilot light on .same thing happened again I changed the fuse but pilot light not coming back on.
Hey thanks for your video, I have to exactly the same action to get the hot water on. Very annoying. You say a new PCB board fix your issue? Did you replace the board yourself or have a engineer come do it? Thank :)
Boilers are ALWAYS having faults, why is this? I know they are very complicated pieces of machinery/electronics with thermodynamics etc, but someone MUST be able to make a boiler that doesn't break down often. Maybe a company could focus on new age boiler system from scratch since all other technologies are growing so fast :) (No diss to any boiler workers out there)
Clearly not a qualified engineer... A, you aren't resetting the thing... you're just turning the power on and off again. To reset this boiler, you have to turn and hold the selector switch to the 'reset' position which you can clearly see... B, there is no pilot light on this boiler... it is automatic ignition that lights itself when you introduce a demand, ie, heating or hot water.
E168, POWER SUPPLIE MUST BE 240V CHECK THE NUETRAL FOR POLARITY, CHECK FOR WATER IN DIVERTER, THEN FAN STAT, NTC SENSOR FOR 12K OMS, NORMALLY ENDS UP BEING THE SIEMANS PCB.
