This is brilliant. Im an OK player, 74 is ny highest break. I actually prefer english billiards but potting is my weakness. I actually experimented recently with a hint of side on pots without knowing deflection and just did it as I love to experiment.

This is amazing content. No coach on youtube has covered this in detail. Beginners will automatically think their cue stroke is not straight when they miss. But the truth is that the potting point is different for each angle and spin. Thanks for sharing!

Great stuff Brando - this helps me understand why I am missing some shots - thanks so much. I mostly aimed my way out of throw, because I'm aiming my way out of adding side too. Getting position on the next ball usually involves some amount of side and slight aiming changes anyway, but a little bit of side instead of changing aim is liberating for automatic positional shots, and probably much better in the long run.

Thank you very much. Can't wait for the rest. I tried adding side at snooker training today, but this was before I saw the video. I was using way too much side, way more than 1 mm. (kudos for speaking in mm and not inch... )

Please explain why you use spin to compensate for throw rather than using no spin And instead adjusting aim?

Just so I’m sure, if playing the same shots from the opposite side of the table I should be reversing the side, so playing with a fraction of left hand side right?

The side spin is parallel to the line of aim or a pivot (back hand English)? Thanks great information as always.

Don’t think of it this way. Just concentrate on the correct spot on the white and see if you pot or not

confusing and yet not convincing you should explain and play the shot without side and show us how it has the throw or drag effect? asked some other coach and said you are wrong, not disrespecting but i am not convinced yet. why not getting the affect for straight shot rather than angled? and why getting these affects for close shots and not for long shots thank you
