This is an unrelated question... but do you know of any bully stick brands that are safe? I’m thinking of giving my puppy a bully stick for the first time and I want to know your opinion!
I followed you method when potty training my puppy and now she is great about it!! Thank you so much your made the process much less daunting to a new puppy mom.
I watched one of your videos about potty training before I got my puppy, and it's been much better than expected! It's been two weeks and we are still taking him out every half hour. The ~5 accidents were my fault thinking that "it feels too soon." Also learned if he was playing or chewing and is suddenly distracted to sniff, he needs to go. He's almost 10 weeks and waiting at the door. Not quite using the doorbell, but we'll get there!
MCU but i have online class😐 im afraid i cant take care of him but it csn play with my lil sis she. Is 7 so its fine but my mom dint believe me i can potty train a dog
I’ve been binge watching your videos and they are so helpful! My family is adopting a golden doodle and we’re bringing him home on Halloween (he’ll be around 9 weeks). We have a cat, so the first video I watched of yours was about introducing a puppy to a cat! :) thanks for the tips!
This is the 3rd video of yours I've watched ... getting my 10 week Cavy on Saturday! Wish I'd known this 20 yr ago with my 1st! He did awesome given my lack! Thank you!
Thank you for your videos, they are such a help since it's been awhile since I've had a puppy around. My daughter got a puppy and I have been helping train and care for her while she is at work. Your delivery and personality accompanied by such concentrated information has made a huge difference! I have two older German shepherds and the male is not accepting her into our pack. I appreciate you and I want to thank you again for taking the time to make these helpful videos. Be safe, be happy.
I'm getting an 8 week old mini doxie next month. This is literally my 5th dog. My current dog is a rescue and she was potty trained when I got her - thankfully. I have such a hard time with potty training and I live in a tiny upstairs apartment.
My Papillon puppy is almost 4 weeks old! Need be patient for another 4 weeks, before getting him... My greatest problem potty training will be my mothers (by that time) 18 week old Papillon puppy, we share a yard and he is almost always in the yard, so convincing my puppy to go potty instead of playing with each other will be hard!
I just got a 7 week old miniature schnauzer. Working with potty pads for now because she is so young. Enjoy your videos. Just trying to do things right. It’s night she didn’t sleep well as I expected
On Tuesday my parents told me I could get a puppy for my birthday!!!!(yay) And my birthday is tomorrow so when I get my puppy I know how to potty train it!
Pawsome tips! I would just add to incrementally increase the overnight times. What I mean is if you’re taking your puppy out every 4 hours overnight, then if that’s going well, increase it to 4 hours 15 minutes, then 4-1/2 hours & so on till your puppy is sleeping longer. Every puppy is different, of course, but my 15-week-old puppy sleeps up to 9 hours a night with no accidents or whining.
Just got my 12wk Schnauzer pup today. Its been 2yrs since i had to put my Dobie to sleep. I finally got up the strength to pour my love into another fur baby. I learned alot training my dobie but never trained him on a puppy pad. This is definitely a change since the new pup will be an indoor dog but I'm up for this adventure. I love your videos and can't wait for the results. ❤❤❤
My wife and I recently adopted two 9wk old female Rottweiler pups on 12/11/20 one is gift to my in laws who have raised Rottweiler for years and the other is a gift to my wife from me and boy our potty training journey has be tough but it’s not without it’s rewards. We’ve been following your advice and we’re both correcting all our wrong doings but I know it’s still early to celebrate and we have a long ways to go but we’re not going to quit thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
Rachel, thank you so much for these tips--we are struggling! We have a 4.5 mo. old pup who is making it through the night and will alert us when she has to go #2 outside, but is continuously having accidents with #1. One of my major questions is for condo building living, for the sake of potty training and consistency should we stick with ONLY either taking her out on the balcony OR taking her downstairs outside every time, or can we still alternate between the two? I want to do what is best for her, but can definitely relate to not being able to take her all the way downstairs every hour or so.
I just started crying because I’m so stressed. I’ve been taking my puppy out every hour and rewarding him, but he still goes inside. No one else is helping me and I’m just so tired! 😭💔
This video has been a big help to us! We have a 13 week old poodle, and have had her for about 2 weeks. She caught onto the concept of going outside pretty quick, but we've had some regression recently. That first week, we barely had any indoor accidents, and now recently it's up to at least one a day. I feel like we aren't doing anything different, but we've decreased the amount of time between potty trips, and that seems to be helping. Still having accidents, though. Thankfully she has never gone in her crate or at night, so glad for that. We've started keeping her on the leash all the time when she's not crated so it's easy to get her outside quickly. Hoping we get back on track soon.
I’d stand up and walk away, or turn my body. I have had a foster puppy that did that. I’d just remove myself immediately and when he had all 4 paws on ground I rewarded with treats, play & praise
Thanks for the helpful video. My puppy is 11.5 weeks and being delivered at 9:30 tonight. I plan to keep his crate in the living room and i was going to crash on the couch so i could get up with him overnight. Will use your tips and see how quickly i can graduate back to my bed overnight.
Thanks for this information. I'm about to get a 7-month-old Havanese and I'm going to use these tips along with your older video about the First Night crate.
I could cry I am so happy I found this video a week before we get our little chocolate cocker spaniel who is 8weeks old!!!! Thank you so so much Rachel you are a blessing!!!
We have a male Havapoo and he enjoys his treats!! We’re trying to use clicker training with him but sometimes he’s so engrossed with what he’s doing outside he doesn’t even notice when we click it while going potty. We try to use lots of praise and affection as well as his favorite toys as alternatives to treats.
Getting our french bulldog puppy in four weeks…trying to learn as much before hand and get ready. Great advice from you , very reassuring… Paula. In the UK
I don’t know if you can change it or not(and I hope you don’t see this as me being rude) but puppies taken away from their litter before they’re 7 weeks old are more likely to develop temperamental problems further down the line. So just be sure to adopt your cute dood after the 7 week mark!! Goldendoodles are great, I hope you have an amazing time with your pup😄😊
I’m getting a Red Merle Standard Australian Shepherd he’ll be 8 weeks when we pick him up🥰 I’m so excited I’ve already bought most essentials but still soo much more to get!!
I’m getting my first puppy in 5 weeks. She’s a Goldendoodle and I can’t wait. I’m SO thankful that I came across your videos tonite. You have relieved soooooo much of my anxiety about doing potty training, that it’s MY fault if they make a mess inside, and don’t punish a puppy. I also loved the video about crate training. You are awesome! Thank you!!
I'll be getting an eight week old PWD in a few weeks. Love your videos because living in an apartment with a few flights of stairs started to stress me out but now I feel more confident.
We just got a beautiful American Bully. She is hard work but worth it! 8 weeks and 3 days old 😊 She is already sleeping in the crate and doing really well in her potty training. Thanks for the video! Interesting concept on the rewarding while they're indisposed, we have been getting success the old fashioned way but I am always interested to hear new techniques as no two dogs are the same!
He/she will be 8 weeks. Multi gen goldendoodle! I am very excited. I decided to get them when I have 2 months off in the summer to train! Your videos are so helpful and educational! Thank you!
This is an amazing video! Thank you for your valuable information. I will be picking up my 2 month golden doodle in 20 day! I’m so excited and trying to prepare myself with steps to help crate, potty train and basic commands. We will both be moving into our house together so I’m so excited but a bit nervous as I am a first time dog mom.
I got a husky puppy, she was born on the last week of February (so she's 2 months and 11 weeks), she came from a house where she was not crate trained, I've been watching all your videos and hopefully in about a week or so she will get used to it. We live in a condo and it's hard to get downstairs with her every hour or so so hopefully the training pad will do! :) Thank you so much for your channel! So informative!
This is the exact advice I found on reddit before I got my puppy! It has worked WONDERS for us. I would say my pup picked up potty training in about two weeks by using this "proactive method." I feel bad for people that get puppies during the winter though...can't imagine going outside every hour, sometimes multiple times an hour, in order to potty train!
I have a beagle puppy and he's 77 days old and I am doing my best to follow the potty training , but I don't have a yard and he makes it on the pad, but still makes outside in any other place , but mainly like 60% on the pad.
We had to litter train puppies because we had 5, they did great. We now have one puppy left , he's 10 weeks old and we take him outside , he then comes in and pees on the floor. We thought it was because of mommy bothering him to wrestle while he was out there. We are taking him for a meet and greet on saturday, i would love to give them tips also.
Our golden retriever Layla will be home with us in 2 days, she's 8 weeks old. I'm so grateful for your videos. I'm not looking forward to getting up every 2-3 hours but I'm definitely going to take your advice! I took a few days off and then after next weekend she'll be going to doggy daycare since I work full time.
My puppy will be 8 weeks when I get him on June 24th! I love and watch all your videos because I just want to be a good dobermom and give him the best experience growing up!
8 week yorkie coming in 4 weeks. First working dog ive ever had or trained. Need all the help i can get i think with this one. Have trained two shihtzu pups in my life but this gal is going to be a challenge i think. I really dont want to use pads at all. Keep the tips coming, i need you! :)
I’m getting a Yorkiepoo August 20 so I’m trying to be prepared by watching you. I will be crate training and also mostly pad potty as I am 84 and walk with a cane due to hip replacement. I will take her outside when I can during the day. I have two cats so that might give a little challenge but it will be worth it😍
Thank you! We have two 14 week old pups and one takes forever to potty outside. He goes every 4 hours or so outside even though we take him every hour. We will have to up our game! Haha. Enjoying all your videos!
I have a 10 week old puppy who’s doing great with potty training thanks to your previous 1 step potty training video. Over the past few days he seems to have regressed and is only doing short wees outside and then coming in for 5-10mins and having an accident. Hopefully we will get back to good progress ☺️
I'm getting an 8 week old yellow lab next week. First dog I've gotten at such a young age and have to train myself. I'm watching all your videos hoping to do it right. You are awesome, enjoying the lessons.
Hi Rachel!! We just got a 7 week old springer spaniel. He has already had 3 accidents in the house. We have been taking him out every hour - 1 1/2 hours and he is still having accidents.
I am adopting a 9 week old labsky! I have experience with both labs and huskies. But its been a long time since having a puppy. I find your videos very informative and helpful. Thank you so much for sharing all this wonderful information!
Thank you Rachael. We are getting a goldendoodle in December. We have a 10 yr old dog now, so we're taking the next three months to learn new and/or improved training techniques, nutrition, supplies, etc...
So happy I found you Rachel. I prepared like crazy before adopting by watching videos and reading and I feel so anxious and feeling like I'm parenting wrong after I actually have her with me >.< I sometimes watch your videos to reduce my anxiety and reassure myself that I'm doing my best lol
Great videos! A 9 week old Border Collie pup flying in tomorrow. I’ve had Border Collies since 1980 and just found your videos while looking to brush up on my prep for him since it’s been many years since the last puppy. Great hacks and appreciate you sharing them!
I have a question for you. I have a puppy that can easily get distracted, so any noise, sound or movement, such as praise while going potty will cause her to stop and not finish. I’m aware of what you have said, but I have to praise as soon as I see her finish or just seconds before she finishes or immediately after. What say you?! Lol Thanks in advance. I do know a lot about dogs, but I just found your channel and it still helps! 😊
Getting a 7 Week Standard Poodle Puppy on Saturday! I am super excited! I have been watching all of your videos so I can educate and be a good puppy parent! You have enlightened me soo much! Thank You! Any tips for me and my incoming puppy?
I find your posts very helpful. I'm getting an 8 week old Frenchie (He's a brindle, so I'm naming him Marble, which his breeder is already using)this weekend and want to be prepared in the best way; fortunately I work from home and finish at 1:30, which helps incredibly.
@@RachelFusaro hmmm actually I watched so many of your puppy training videos today - non stop. That was funny thought when you said "Bravo!" :) I take the opportunity to thank you... really.
Thanks Rachel for another informative video. We have had our 6th month old shih tzu "Luna" (got her from a family that was going to get rid of her) since March 28th. She is fun, playful and wonderful and we are working daily on potty training. I fully acknowledge that her potty accidents are my fault. I need help to understand the following instances we are seeing from Luna...1. She is fearful of going potty in front of us. 2. Since we have had her she has gone #1 three times outside on a long walk, but never #2. During the day, I take her outside every other hour in our backyard for 3-20 minutes and she never goes potty. 3. She uses a potty pad downstairs daily, but infrequently not the one upstairs that I have moved around to get the spot she will go on. She has accidents upstairs. I want to catch her in the moment, but don't get the chance. Your guidance and suggestions are needed and greatly appreciated. #doggymom #twinmom #teachR #blessed
Hi Rachel, I’m getting my puppy in 5 weeks time and he will be 8 weeks old. I will be a first time fur mom. I have been watching your videos to educate myself on everything I need to know before I get my baby. Thank you for this video I can’t wait to do this with mine.
I came here after the how to get your parents to get you a puppy!! I made one list for foster places!! You said this channel isn't meant for kids like me but the tips are insanely helpful!! I am going to try and ask my parents after this pandemic!! Bye!! Stay safe!!😘💗😇
