This is another video that I made to fix a common problem with the engine bogging down, not revving up, or choking out after starting. Feel free to ask me any questions that you have in the comments. Also, be sure to watch my other video on a commonly loose bolt that can also cause problems starting or running.

I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. ru-vid.comUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

I found that the filter in the gas tank had fallen off the rotted plastic gas line. I replaced the lines and filter but it still would not run. It was the mesh filter in the carburetor. Your video was outstanding and totally helpful .thanks for sharing.

To properly reattach the air filter cover, you first engage the tang at the bottom. Then you guide the start/run handle though the opening in the cover. Finally, slightly rotate the cover clockwise while pushing cover over the cover release button. The reason you thought the cover doesn't fit well anymore is that you failed to first position the bottom of the cover over the tang to lock it in place.

@andybecker2693
@andybecker2693 4 года назад
If you’re getting dirt on that screen in the carb you have other issues you need to address. One is that the fuel lines will deteriorate until the fuel filter in the tank will fall off and allow unfiltered fuel to enter the carb. Also the lines get brittle and crack allowing air to be drawn in. This will cause a lean condition making it run erratic and hard to start. New fuel lines and a filter are cheap insurance. There are plenty of good videos on how to install fuel lines.

I pushed a tiny rubber disk out of the priming hole with a needle along with a ball of dirt. Blew it out, then I pushed the tiny rubber disc back into the hole. Might help you with the priming ball not filling with gas.

I have the same blower, sounds like you need to adjust the high speed screw a bit more, mine revs way higher than that. Or maybe yours is just still cold. And by the way, yes, those screens are replacable when you biy the rebuild kits. However, in a pinch, You can take it out and run it, but evenually it will suck in debris and clog the carb. Great videos!

@@MicahMartinDIY by the way, great videos! That's crazy about the cylinder getting loose like that. Just because of your video, I checked my bolts, (mine were a 4.5 mm) but they were tight. And as for the tool you bought, I just used my dremel and cut notches in my fuel screws, cutting through the casting around the screws too, I didnt count the turns I just adjusted them until it ran right. Darn thing idles clean, low and takes a stab of the throttle like a motocross bike! This is a must for an older unit that has some use, because the carbs start to leak around the seals, and they are already super lean from the factory. Some other big factors are fuel quality, gas/oil mixture, and air filter cleanliness. Any of those things can really change how the carb flows and cause some big headaches for the user. Another lesser known issue is the screen on the exhaust. If it gums up with oil and debris it can restrict flow and keep the engine from drawing in fresh air and fuel. And don't forget to change the spark plug, they are cheap and easy, so just keep a new one on standby. Hopefully, someone reads this who is having issues and maybe it gets them going again. Keep up the good work, you make a great video without any b.s., you get to the point and get stuff fixed.

Good Work Micah, I laughed on both these videos when you fired it back and said see runs really good (Still sounds like Poulan crap ha ha). I had the same two problems with mine as well. A matter of fact I almost took a match to it today trying to start it. Have a new carb sitting on the shelf but will be sure to check for the loose bolt. I have the same problems with my Poulan chainsaw keeping it running good. The Poulan stuff is notoriously temperamental for staring and running problems. Normally if your lucky to get them going then you tend to run them full throttle and run around like a mad man before they die (-: Think I am going to stop being a cheapskate and go back to Stihl or Husky Pro line stuff. My old Stilh 041 Farm Boss chainsaw you could leave it sitting on the ground and crack into your coffee thermos and it would only conk out if and when the gas tank was dry. It might be 3' away from where you left it but still running ha ha. Not the same with the Poulan. It would conk out just when you go to pick it back up and then take five minutes to get it running again, Thanks for the tips though Cheers

Man, mine is kicking my ass. First off, great videos! I tore mine apart, got spark and gapped correctly, new ⛽ gas 3.2 oz. In 1 gallon for 40:1 as cap states. Cleaned carb screen, found the filter in the gas tank was disconnected, so I reconnected it. I see fuel move in the lines. EVERYTHING is tightened down correctly, and it just won't start. Had it for 7 years or so.

Replaced spark plug, fuel tank and noticed when I took the carburetor off there was a manifold cover over the intake going from the carburetor. The first time I reassembled the carburetor with the two screws the cover was blocking the air flow into the carburetor. Took the cover off altogether because it was hard to realign the cover. Started on first pull.

Nice video, however I believe your blower is idling too high and there's a slight bog on acceleration. You need to tackle the idle adjustment screw, back it off or turn counter-clockwise, and last but certainly not least there's one mixture screw that needs to be counterclockwise also as I believe it's starving for air. Nevertheless it's a fair video

Great video but like you suggested would love to see the high and low screw adjustment settings. Can you tell me how many turns out they approximately are from the fully closed position, and i can go from there? Mine is running but bogging down when running on full throttle. I'm also going to change the clunk filter in the tank. Thanks Update. When i went to change the clunk filter i found that the hoses had started to disintegrate in the fuel tank leaving lots of deposits and also the fuel filter had fallen off the hose because the hose was so bad. cleaned the tank out, replaced the hose and filter and just like you said when i took the carburetor side off like in your video the small screen filter was packed solid with fine sentiment restricting the fuel flow. cleaned that out. adjusted both fuel high/low screw setting to 1 1/2 turns out from closed and the blower runs like brand new. Starts with one pull. thanks for your video would never have found that small screen. Thanks

I had issues with my blower not starting. Usually, a new spark plug did the trick, but not this time. I started researching online and thought that the fuel filter might be the problem. After I dumped the fuel in the tank, I found that the fuel line had deteriorated and was laying loose in the bottom of the fuel tank along with the doohickey that is supposed to hold the fuel cap. I have ordered a kit that should arrive today with replacement fuel line, etc. I'll add to my comment after I get it replaced. Hopefully, it will be straight forward. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MJ4L1LZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
