Yea the pounce to pin rn is bullshit rn, and I don't think raptors pinning bigger things will ever be not bullshit. But they can make it slightly less bullshit by making it so that they need to exceed the target's weight or at the very least get very close to it to pin it down, so like 4 omnis to pin a 1800kg 2 ton dibble etc
I like the idea of creatures losing stamina when walking/attacking while pounced instead. That way, utah returns to being an endurance hunter that exhausts prey by working together.
They're going to have to make it significantly easier to find and form groups of your playable's species if that's the case. Or better yet - make competent AI for once, and allow solo players to recruit that AI as a protector... especially if they're juvie solo players.
As if Utahs pin before wasnt already the most skilless shit in the whole game, it already invalidates playing small tiers idk why they thought pinning shit like carno and dilo would be a good idea
Raptor is pretty much the shittiest dino rn (evrima) 45 attack, bugged pounce, attacks not hitting at all, and getting killed by anything. No one was scared of raptors like ceras or carnos, i think its really good buff
@@ayumi8931 when Utahs pounce actually works (in live build and before this recent horde test build) it’s fairly decent but you actually need good movement/a competent group to do well but pouncing esp in larger groups is pretty much going to be a win for you if you and your group aren’t stupid being able to pin larger animals or even things like Dilo is beyond unbalanced esp when they just fixed galli having the issue of being pinned by 1 raptor only to wrap back around and do this it’ll probably get nerfed to hell anyway I cannot see this making it to live Good raptor players are actually scary just a lot of people suck ass at Utah
@@beezaluv I just looked over that this pounce to pin IS SUPER BUGGED so im taking hats off here, it looks cool tho maybe with some fixes and balance it will be better. But u are right - right now its cracked up
@@crabhater9373 yeah it's a pack hunter therefore if it's in a pack it should be able to kill the entire roster with no counter play and no skill needed, genius. Carno is also a small game hunter therefore it should be able to insta kill everything smaller than it by looking at it. Teno is a CC based dino so it should stun Rexes.
When you're pinned it drains stam pretty fast. So bigger shit can survive it. We pinned a sub to fresh adult deino yesterday. It destroyed my stamina after it got pinned. It died.. Hopefully someone recorded it so you guys can see. Was wild. We had a full pack and it basically drained our stam to do it but he died.
Honestly the only even remotely acceptable existence of this mechanic is if the target has no stamina, Utah has to recover after pouncing and the weight at which someone gets pinned is increased, which of course the devs will never do
@@Superkoolaid857 quadrupedal payables should be more resistant to pounce as well. Seeing how effortlessly deinos and diablos are completely disabled by an only moderately sized raptor pack is disgusting. Four legged animals are sturdier than bipeds, i guess the devs only pay attention to “realism” when it benefits their favorite playables
That's just Raptor players for you. Rather than learn how to play the game they kept screaming at the devs long enough until they gave up and gave them an ability that just lets them win every fight with no counter play.
@@karenboy1005 Dude just run away if you see a big pack then. The same thing happens when Lions jump on a buffalo. Remember that allo and rex also will be able to do this. Probably other dinos too.
@@karenboy1005 use the forest to make them loose sight of you. Use the terrain. You can knock omnis off you by running into trees. Stay in a corner in a hill so they can't pounce you. Besides, one omni isn't exactly a brute. Hit one and they most likely retreat.
This doesn't seem fair. CC in general sucks, but that combined with the fact you will be already outnumbered, will make fights less skill based. This will also make Dilo unplayable if on omni smaller then it can pin it.
I always disliked pounce because it's a pretty unfair ability, like once you get pounced you can't do shit and bucking takes your stam aswell so you are fucked regardless. And now it's worse. From now on I will safe log the moment I hear an omni pack, I was gonna say kill them on sight but I've been doing that since legacy anyway.
It is really amazing mechanic, it can help omnis hunt more animals in smaller groups. Its just that, there is no way to counter it ATM. Perhaps a struggling out mechanic? Or make it like deinos stamina fight, if the prey has 50-60% less stamina than utah (depended on the size of animal too) they can be pinned bc rn its just right click like carno was in the older versions before they added the cooldown to his charge attack.
Maybe some kind of risk for the raptors would be good for balancing? Something like the more raptors latch on a target, the more stamina they burn. It would make solo and small groups still viable because they burn less stamina and rely on making the target bleed out, with the pinning being a finishing move with a short burst of raw damage for large groups rather than just "hold right click and win". Maybe a dino that can break out of pinning could deal some damage to all involved raptors too, nothing too crazy, but enough to make them consider the risks. An alternative would make group pinning only achievable in certain conditions, like if a dino bleeds for a specific amount of time the smell of blood drives nearby raptors into a berserk-like state that makes them burn a bit less stamina while running and allows them to pin a target, with the drawback that they would be loud as hell, and killing the target would drive them into a feeding frenzy where they would rapidly consume the meat, but automatically bite raptors that get a bit too close.
Large dinosaurs should deal scaling damage to raptors when they scrape them against solid obstacles, with apexes possibly being able to even crush the raptor to death. But of course, that would make raptor mains sad, so Dondi will never do that.
@@AgentMercer That's a good idea. And knowing that Maiasaura's combat will involve throwing its weight around, of all the dinosaurs in the roster it'd make the most sense for maia to be the one to smash latched raptors/troodons into a wall.
@@robboss204 It should be around 9 tons if they didn't change it, and I very much hope it is too big to get pinned down, because as long as Rex can't be pinned by raptors I will still have something to play.

Lost my 100% grown cera to 2 raptors yesterday… it’s a sad day in the world of the isle. As if dibbles and stegos were not already enough. Now we got this bs.
@@Aldairruby2001realistically an utahraptor would have been way slower then it is in the isle by your logic omnis should not be able to run away from most threats because realism?
@@Aldairruby2001 If we were being “realistic”, Omni wouldn’t even attempt to pounce on a full-grown Stego. Let alone any other creature of similar and larger size to said Stego.
They did change it so you need 2 Raptors to make a pin happen. But thats not enough nerf lol. Id say they need to bring back the stun when you miss a pounce for it to even be slightly nerfed enough. As of right now it seems the only counter to it is to have the mutation that makes damage turn into stam which I think stops you from being pinned but as seen with the stego it wont stop you from being murdered. Or you just run into to a cliff and hope they throw themselves off of it.
Troodon honestly would probably be better canidate for this mechanic than omni, given how small it is. They have to either buff bucking mechanics or reduce omni max group size (not that it will stop superpacking) in order to get semblance of balance.
Jesus Christ, they finally give omnis a viable ability and the community is divided more than the red sea. I agree that the weight requirement for pinning needs to be more, and probably a bit more stamina drain, but pinning is what the animal (technically Utah) is supposed to do to its prey. And saying that pounce or pin requires no skill is complete bs. To even land one, you have to predict and aim at a moving target and click onto one of the regions on the model's body. A lot of people in the video missed the target many times over, so the margin for error is still there. Any mistake on the omnis part means death. We also forget that Omnis are incredibly fragile still and have a small health pool. These are fairly skilled players, but people still died or nearly died. They're also picking off lone individuals, not entire packs. Playing this game solo does suck, but you would get picked off in the wild just the same.
I absolutely adore when people assume my arguments and immediately slot me into a steroetypical, disliked category of people that they have a personal bias of. I also love it when you completely ignored my points about the mechanic needing SEVERAL nerfs to be balanced. Another thing to note. Omniraptors fit the role of wolves in the Isle's simulated ecosystem. While fragile by themselves, in a group, they can target larger prey items and use their numbers and cunning to take them down and feed the group. Utahraptor, being bulkier than other raptors, was believed to have used its weight and sickle claws to pin and restrain its prey before killing them. So pinning as a mechanic is more akin to the real animal, despite the backlash for it. I don't give a fossilized shit about JP, given its inaccuracy. I care about the niches the animals occupy, their survival strategies, and how successful they are in practice. Pinning is accurate, but needs work to make it truly balanced.
problem is omnis they're beyond strong rn dilos stand no chance carnos stand no chance ceras stand no chance dibble stand no chance 💀 im ok with having the power to fight back but getting forced to the ground until death by 2 small omnis is crazy
@@pn5705 I mean he is wrong about that carno stand no chance, like carno got many tools, and the problem that people don't know how to use it properly and always gonna go cry about something be overpowered, once it's buffed a little bit
Horde test is meant to be criticized, that's how you improve the game. If we don't go hard mode on this while it is in horde test, the devs will think that it's ok and they'll put it in the game.
The group sounds just as annoying as the easy pin ability. They need a heavy stam depletion when grappled. Also a ability for when shaken off the have a chance to fall over so the target dino can hit em back. Raptor mega packs shouldnt be the meta to win everything. Just stupid lame
It’s unbalanced, it’s poorly implemented, and this is a STRESS TEST. It’s not even a “gift”, it’s “guys look at how much WORK we’ve done in over a year. We have SPARRING!” Clown game, clown player base. Running on life support at this point.
People complaining that “there’s no skill involved” My brother in christ you’re playing the isle. The devs intentionally make the game unbalanced and it’s already UNPLAYABLE because the game is shit and laggy xD shit servers and shit code. Spend 4 hours sitting in a bush just to die to bs? Yeah thats the game dude isk what you were expecting 😂😂
They are kinda op now , bucking needs so major buffs , other doesn't matter how good or how big you are , bunch of raptors and you are done , my major problem is once pinned you can't do anything
@@farinay9994 true, i kinda noticed that, buf if they are aiming for realism (and they are) thered not much that can be done. If it would drain stamina too fast it should do so for both parties so that then the pinned one won't just stand up and run after the raptors while they have 0 stamina
Maybe because terrain camping is boring af for all parties involved and nobody wants that to be the only way to survive an encounter. I don't get it, everyone always hated terrain camping and calling it cringe and whatever, but now that it's the only way to survive it's fine? Pick a side weirdos.
Why the fuck should I spend 3-6 real hours of my day growing a virtual dinosaur in a bush just to die in 5 minutes because I can’t run away from a group of 10 right-clicking raptors?
Cool so the raptors can just starve/dehydrate you out with their megapack as they take turns tap pouncing you, and if you try to move you just get CCed to death
