Pouring a concrete ramp in the Work Shop , How to build a Concrete Ramp

I’m pouring a concrete ramp between my old garage and my newer garage. One floor is about 8” higher than the other floor , that’s another step to climb ! so a ramp should solve the problem.

Excellent job! I need to make a ramp for my workshop/shed. The dimension are almost identical and I had similar thoughts on how to do it. Thank you!

Nicely done. At first, I thought the cement was going to drift forward and not stay in the bach part of the ramp. Nice work with the 2x4 cutting. Enjoyed a full-watch. Have a Merry Christmas. 👍🏽🤠 12/21/23

So much handier. I got about an 8" step down going into my entrance door into my garage. It can be a pain sometimes.

This is very helpful thanks. I am in Israel. I use a mobility scooter (50 pounds) now leverage, lift it halfway over the lip/threshold and drag it in, risking damage to the scooter. My landlord wants to build a concrete ramp with some leftover quickset he has but neither of us knew how to go about it. When I found my Hebrew vocabulary lacking the necessary words to explain, "build a wood form" I realized I needed a video. So it's great that you have a short visual procedure he can follow with slow talking narrative we can both (hopefully) understand. It's been about 3 years since I used RU-vid for home maintenance but you might want to know that your audience is far-reaching. I think we will need a smaller frame & fewer bags of quickset. Can I ask how much time in total the project took you working alone? He & I discussed it yesterday, we were wondering how long it takes for the cement to harden & I see you've done it in layers, how long to you let each layer set? We do have a lot of scrap 2x4s here, we could easily do this. It just will take some time & teamwork.

I poured the ramp in 1 day , just add some water to dampen the layer you just poured if you need to take a break. (You want to keep the concrete wet if poured in layers) Thanks for watching the video, and hope you consider subscribing to our channel

If you cut the existing slab or break down into it a few inches, you can pour the entire ramp with no transition and have at least a 4” thickness in the new pour and no need for the wooden ramp.

Run out of cement. Another reason dry pouring is preferred method. I think using cement as transistion would be easier and better maybe. But good Job!

This was a great video and EXACTLY what I plan on doing with out shed - except I need a ramp to go from out shed to the driveway. However, I've heard installing concrete on top of concrete will not bond - and I had a contractor who wouldn't do the job without charging me to break up part of my driveway first. However, for someone like you and I, I don't need it to handle extremely heavy loads. I just need it to handle lawnmowers going in and out. Have you had any issues with the ramp moving or not bonding with the already established concrete you installed it on?

No problems so far , mine is inside so weather doesn’t affect it. Good luck. If your not a subscriber hope you consider subscribing to our channel

Very usually, any estimation on how weather will affect it? I plan on building my wife a wheelchair ramp
@CreekviewAcres
@CreekviewAcres 3 года назад
By the ramp being inside I doubt it will be an issue with weather. An outside ramp would be different as weather extremes could affect it. Thanks for watching, if your not a subscriber please consider subscribing to our Channel

I'm needing to make this project for my Moms wheelchair to go up and down. I'm thinking about a 3 to 4 foot long ramp. Just a small one. Do you know about how much cement I would need. I only have 1 bag. Like yours. Maybe I need 2 more.??

I just got a simple question, not to be arrogant, but how come you didn't just make the ramp 100% full concrete all the way down ?
@CreekviewAcres
@CreekviewAcres 2 года назад
Not gonna be driving anything heavy on it so why buy and mix more concrete then necessary. Thanks for watching, if your not a subscriber please consider subscribing to our channel
