Pouring a Concrete Slab (timelapse)

This is a video my son made, as some friends and I finished up the concrete slab for my new studio building in April 2016. It's actually a combined foundation and slab, with 8" thick walls that go down 3 feet into the ground around the perimeter, but those are not shown in the video.
At the beginning, you can see some embedded rebar and red radiant heat tubing among other stuff.
Uploading for reference in a blog post - there is much more to be shared on this project!

Is it normal in the US to not vibrate the concrete?

Good question - vibrating concrete (to allow it to settle and remove air pockets) is standard here as well. I don't have a vibrator machine, but I did tap the sides of the forms regularly with a hammer as we poured the walls. It came out pretty smooth, but if you're a professional you should own a concrete vibrating tool. Also, for higher-stakes stuff like a house foundation (especially if it's a house with deep foundation walls and a basement), you really want to vibrate it. And probably do a bunch of other stuff I missed here - Im a beginner at foundations!
