My mom was a professional ballet dancer and she taught ballet for twenty years. She hated teaching middle school. It was her least favorite class…for this exact reason. She just wanted the high schoolers and the preschoolers. Nothing in between those two ages. It was, mostly, because those were the two ages where a vast majority of the class wanted to be there and were happy to listen and follow directions and learn.

As a twelve year old girl who does ballet, there were 4 of these in my class and they pushed me when we were doing center and I fell off my box(we were doing our pointe routine) and twisted my ankle. When I went to the doctor he said that if I fell another way I could’ve broken my ankle and it would’ve taken 6 MONTHS to heal😱 Ballet dancers know that not dancing for 6 months means that you’ll lose everything. Your flexibility, posture, and general skills can all be gone without practice. Competition season is right around the corner also so I would’ve not been able to compete. They got kicked off the advanced pointe team and placed back in beginners cuz they forgot that the studio has cameras.🤭

@MusicalBotany
@MusicalBotany 7 месяцев назад
I'm ignorant of why it's a problem to wear baggy clothing. I did musical theatre but never took dance classes. Is it problematic because it obscures the instructor's view of dancers' movements? Being a little insecure, I can't imagine feeling comfortable doing exercise without baggy clothing...!
@avalily3
@avalily3 7 месяцев назад
@@MusicalBotany it's super important to wear tight fitting clothing during ballet so that the instructor can see your body's placement and movement clearly to give better corrections on technique and to prevent injury
@filmedby.zaraa.
@filmedby.zaraa. 7 месяцев назад
@@MusicalBotany well if your wearing baggy clothing to ballet it can yes cover your body to make you feel comfortable but also then the teacher can’t tell always if your doing something wrong like having your knees bent, arms not in the correct position, etc. so if you are doing something wrong that could injure yourself that the teacher can’t see through the clothing, you won’t get corrected and it can effect the dancer. ballet can be quite annoying at sometimes but I guess you get used to it. hope that helps 🤍
@alysewalker4809

Some will sit out saying they have injuries, but when it's time to do their dance they want to dance. They all bring their Stanley cups a well to the class and Starbucks as well. Things really don't change as much as we think they do huh 😂 The main difference was that the teacher let them do whatever they wanted too. Actually they were often favoured by the teacher (who diligently ignored the obvious bullying that was occuring) thanks to their parents spending too much time brown nosing and not enough time teaching their children to be nice people. One of them now teaches ballet at the same school we attended together. Am I still bitter about the years of bullying with no repercussions? You betcha 😂
