I’m just a nurse, but I do work in the ICU, and very often I feel so bad for how residents are talked to by attendings and by pretty much everyone else in the hospital. Residents are so nice and eager to learn. Maybe if we didn’t treat them like shit, the future of medicine would be a lot different.
@aconcretemoth9382
@aconcretemoth9382 2 месяца назад
youre not “just” a nurse-just because there’s a hierarchical structure doesn’t make you at all less than the MD. it’s only in medicine where self-denigrating submission seems to be expected of a worker doing a noble difficult thing. every other field would not think it has to disempower your selfesteem to get you to do your job at great cost to yourself for other people. they would just respect you.

Why do they always stand with their arms behind the back tho. That’s so accurate😂 And the peds resident in picu that tries their best to shield you from getting dumpstered is too accurate. Mine gave me fist bumps instead of stickers tho

I had a dope as hell differential with tx for peds rounding. I even looked up dosages for abx treatment for suspected lobar PNA. As I was giving the assessment and plan, the cultures came back. It was adenovirus. The attending told me "your plan kinda sucks" and went into the room without me lmao. Peds resident stood up for me and said "we literally got this back on rounds. I thought it was bacterial as well." I did NOT honor peds lol
