He and his leadership saved whole Europe, (btw France was invaded by Hitler in three weeks time). The real WWII was in Eastern frontline, not in the west. Americans joined the WWII in 1944 when the German army was severely wounded by Soviet soldiers. I can't understand the fact that Americans killed 70 mln indigenous people of North America plus enslaved millions of black people from African continent and US media always displays Stalin as an evil. Stalin is angel compare to what European settlers did to local people. US government was and is always jealous because Soviet led military government led by Stalin was victorious. Take a chance and visit Red Square in Moscow where Stalin's grave yard is, you will witness hundreds of aged ordinary people bringing fresh flowers to his last rest place.

those Soviet POWs were traitors who mostly served to Nazi Germany. That's why they did not want to go back.....

Hi Arijit, it was actually more complex than that - granted that German POWs were not treated very well - they (Germans) had mistreated and killed many Soviet Soldiers and Civilians. By the time, Stalingrad was lost to the Germans - most of the survivors were in such malnutrition/damaged state that they did not survive the captivity. Russians (many of them) were just like you and me - and I fought three wars (an eye opener)! I met some of my former "enemies" and was impressed if not surprised that they were "humans", just like me, with families, friends, parents and children... You have it alone about the german 6 thArmy. To survive the fighting but not your captivity is a tragedy .I heard about a cellar full of wounded Germans,when the Russian doctors saw the state of emergency they agreed to burn the cellar out with flamethrowers.This is how war can be.

My point is you can't compare treatment during war to treatment during peace. It's apples to oranges. No, a war crime was the disappearance of 3 million soviet prisoners of war , they died of starvation in German captivity , also you had a commissar order, where every commissar or Jewish soldier or officer captured should be shot on the spot . That was a war crime and a criminal order. Germans destroyed hundreds of villages and towns in Russia. There was a terrible lack of accomodation. Those German prisoners were put to work and build homes and roads . Russians will always hate the Germans .
