I did a mini bike for a 14yo girl in Cosmic Pink metallic and it looked great. I always use a zinc primer powder first to make a uniform base to start with then a Porsche silver or Ultra Chrome under transparent colors. You also want to drive a 3 to 4 foot long copper grounding rod outside and run a good sized ground wire inside to your rack. That will really help with the powder stick and keep anyone from getting shocked.

@@ColleteDavis A word of warning everything has to be clean a good metal cleaner is cellulose thinners also ban any tea coffee or drinks with sugar in them from your parts area as the only thing that dissolves sugar is hot water. all other cleaners will not break it down and the sugar will bubble up under the powder then you have to go back to bare metal and then use hot water to clean it off. Another tip on some material that is rough you can heat the metal powder it and then cure it but remember that you have to be quick and not be heavy with the powder as it will be melting as you pit it on. You are doing a great job.

For those colours that are see threw colours, I use a white base to make them pop, or a chrome silver on let’s say a lollipop red, looking fire though the hi-lighter yellow and neochrome motor combo was an excellent choice, since you’ll probably still have a lot of pink knowing you, it will give it an amazing contrast

Nice work. The pink turned out so bright. The neon green isn’t to my taste. Prismatic makes some sparkle greens that look good with the cosmos was well, I guess it depends on how much sparkle you want but a new SHINY is good. Both cars should be show stoppers.

Just an FYI Collete.... when you spray the power make little circular motions(that way you get good coverage) and you really don't have to aim, as you noticed it stuck to the bottom. It looks great....your new whip is going to be bangin'🤪

Just a thought🤔....you could try the dazzling pink over a bright white base....but lightly dust the dazzling pink. it's been some time since I have done any power coating....so I don't know these new pigments. But that's what testing is for....and you seem to be enjoying it very much. I know your cars are going to look epic Collete.🥰

Amazing work! Just like you did for the machined surfaces on the plates, you should cover other machined surfaces on things like the knuckles. (Where the brake caliper bolts up) Same with any threaded holes. You're killing it learning these new processes so fast!

I generally stay away from light colors on motors just because of how fast they can pick up grime. The last Rotary i built I used engine enamel on the irons, and polished the aluminum bits. Went with Red/White/Blue from front to back on the irons on a couple builds, and my personal 3 rotor is black irons and polished rotor housings.

Go buy the boys some aluminum bottled beer. Take the empties, prep them and powder coat them. Label them and build your color pallet. With all the colors you, Adam and the team will be using you can hold cans in the light or mix and match to see what you want. Also there is a chemical stripper for powdercoat. You ca get a drum of it and use it for a while. You’ll want to look into that.

So there’s a thing called off gassing before you coat your parts. It’s best to put them in the oven to off gas anything that might be in the pores of the metal and to cook off oils.

Why don't you try spraying stainless tumblers? You get a cool colour and a cool cup while testing the colours. And if you lay vinyl down With your name or something you can make them Personal

Since you can bake cookies in a car could you in theory powdercoat the interior of a car and let it bake in the sun also what if you could get the engine bay watm enough to powdercoat

You need like 160-200c degrees to cure powdercoat so definitely not in the interior you could probably cure exhaust side components in the bay but the powder literally wipes off so it'd be pretty hard to install them

It looks like that is a name brand gun, so it will take a while at a cost of probably 6-10k dollars. I bought one with more settings on the screen that is all digital like that for $1500 direct from china......a clone. The cheap guns just don't do well, especially for multiple coats. I would imagine you are right and the others will join in. Their shop is also kind of in the middle of nowhere, so it isn't just a quick trip to a powdercoating shop. I make parts for myself and others and wanted to keep my profits up and do as much in house as possible, in a small home shop. Powder beats dealing with paint, especially auto paint and it is far better than spray cans.
