This is for fixing the Power 8 Workshop battery charge problem. I still haven't manage to fix the Lithium module's charging unit. Although the batteries read more than 18 volts, they do not charge in the lithium unit. The unit was stored for a year and then stopped charging. Nihm version is going strong still and working well. I don't think i will waste any more time with Li-ion version as i get zero volts out of charging unit/port...
I tried to cross charge each unit's batteries with other one with no luck what so ever at all.
To charge you need LAB POWER SUPPLY.
I tried `jump starting` or `Jump charging` from other batteries with ZERO luck as well.
Although the design is VERY good and neat and useful, IF you ever come across these units somewhere, DO NOT BUY them. They have MASSIVE problem with charging as well as after sale's help and company/manufacturer does NOT help anything whatsoever. I tried to e-mail them many times with ZERO responses...

I bought this set a long time ago with two batteries. the NiMH batteries died and I finally got around to doing something about it. Instead of taking the batteries apart and replacing the SubC batteries with new NiMH cells, I chopped the bottom off of the battery pack and attached a Dewalt battery adapter and now it runs off of removable Dewalt LiPo battery packs. I had to leave enough space in the handle for the electronics so the height isn't quite right. It's slightly too tall to fit into the battery bay on the cabinet part so I just cut out the bottom section of the cabinet where the battery goes and now it all works fine. The Dewalt battery 20V packs charge to 20.5 volts which is still well within the capabilities of the motors in the tools. The motors themselves can run as high as 36 volts. They're not proprietary. variation in the charging of the NiMH batteries can wander up as high as 20 volts or so, so there's a wide margin of error to play with. The electronics in the tools can handle it. Even the light. The batteries don't charge in the Power8 cabinet anymore so I don't plug it in. They charge in a standard Dewalt 20V battery charger. The Dewalt batteries are 5000 mAh which is WAAYY better than the original batteries 1500 mAh capacity.

Ok so I had the two original PowerHandle batteries that came with the Power8 Workshop. Plugged in to charge after being outside in both too hot to cold temps, only the power symbol came on. No digital display or background light. So I simply plugged in the second battery to the secondary charger & now the one in the main dock is fully charged. Will swap them over & should have two fully charged back to life from the dead batteries.

I want to find out i tested my power 8 workshop poles to see the voltage output of the charger, my multimeter fluctuates between 10 and 25 volts is that normal?

Should it be a constant voltage or should it fluctuate like that

Do you know where to get a external charger for this unit?
@YIB110
@YIB110 6 лет назад
You can connect power cable directly into a battery case but First take it out batteries.
@DesignedinAustralia0
@DesignedinAustralia0 6 лет назад
Do you mean it must power up directly from the plug? None of the versions i got don't work without batteries. For Lithium or Nimh version?

@@DesignedinAustralia0 it works with DC 5v to 48v 10A adjustable voltage power supply transformer.

I bought a Power8 After using it for a couple weeks as a table saw The battery came loose Now it no longer works Even when it's plugged in you still can't use it as a table saw drill press or jigsaw Call the company and I've got nothing but the run around saying someone's going to contact me this is going on for a month I Facebook the company There is no post from this company for several years If you look at profiles of people who work for power8 It says former employee So basically this companies going out of business And they will not stand behind their products
