I am getting an error when I test my app saying "Network error when using Patch function: Connection not configured for this data source". I am not sure why I am not able to write to my data source. Would you know why this is? Thank you
I assumed you downloaded my sample app and are just using as is? if yes, note the data source (2 Sharepoint Lists) I have, is not going to be there for you automagically as its external to the PowerApp. You will need to 1st decide what you want as a data source (Dataverse, Sharepoint, SQL, Excel and so on). Then you'll need to make it. Last, then add columns (Why I provided the CSV templates as the coumn names would match mine most closely but you can do what ever you like so long as you rewrite the entire patch statement to match your environments setup [datasource and column names]). After you make a data sources with all the columns --- and lets assume you also like me, use a SharePoint lists, then you in power apps, connect to your data sources [this is what you bind the patch statement to in the 1st parameter, and later in the defaults paremeter inside the patch statement like this... --> Patch(DataSourceName, DEFAULTS(DataSourceName), {ColumnA:TestCaseResult.StartTime}) bla bla bla ] , which you just made. With that all done - you now need to modify the patch statements to use your datasource name(s) like I show above, and make sure the column names are the same too or you will need to update those as well. Only last gotcha may be data types you chose for your columns. In SharePoint I used Text for all except traces I chose multi-line.
@@DavidSoden Awesome, I was able to create those sharepoint lists and get the patch to work, I appreciate your explanations. Also, really enjoying your videos. Thanks a lot
Check the case or spelling of the function. Verify the screen name and case is correct.ise intellisense as much as possible. Delete, save and exit. Then go back in and recode it from scratch as it may be a service cache issue with the ide.
@@DavidSoden thank you for reply . What exactly happening is , on navigate function step ms test studio loads the new screen but it is not able to move to next step.it is stuck on navigate function step.
Most welcome. Test Studio is a different animal and was recently released to GA. If your function works properly in a normal canvas power app, but it is not working as expected in Test Studio then you likely encountered a bug and would need raise a support request ticket. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/get-help-support
github.com/dtsoden/PowerAppsTestStudio then download the zip file TestStudioLesson_20211102125801.zip. Import the app from the zip file learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/canvas-apps/export-import-app#importing-a-canvas-app-package
