This tutorial is the first of a series of 3. It explains what variables are in Power Automate and how to use them, and also gives example of setting and collapsing arrays. The next two tutorials in the series will show how to tidy up flows to make them neater and more elegant, and how to add conditions to test expressions in flows.

That part when expressions do not give a hint about variables is crazy xD also in VBA it is so simple to count files and here we have to create multiple steps... If I had to I would use VBA all the time but it seems life ain't that easy :D I appreciate the video. You are such a great tutor. Your content is second to none!!!!

There are definitely things that are easier to do with other applications - but of course Power Automate can do many things that VBA can't! (we still love VBA of course!)

I have a quick question. I am trying to pull company data in excel through excel VBA like Cash, Assets etc and do you think it is possible to access the SEC edgar API using Excel VBA? I just want to get your opinion before I fall down the Rabitt whole.

Hi! You can certainly call APIs in VBA using HTTP requests - we have a video on the basics here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qE8r7S95oTg.htmlfeature=shared The URLs you need are documented here www.sec.gov/edgar/sec-api-documentation The main issue is parsing the JSON returned - VBA doesn't have a native way to do this. This is a good intro to how to do that using an API which generates fake JSON data codingislove.com/excel-json/ I hope it helps!

Hello, for Power Automate flow, could you please provide some direction on how can I set up a scheduled flow where I can email a report on certain work day of the month (say 2nd work day of each month). Thank you!

Hi! You might find this Microsoft help page on setting up scheduled flows useful learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/run-scheduled-tasks?tabs=classic-designer I hope it helps!

@@WiseOwlTutorials In this case I was asking about sending a flow on a specific business (or work day) of each month. I.e. 2nd work day of each month, i.e. in Jan 2024 it will be Jan 3rd and in Feb 2024 it will be Feb 2nd. So dates will be fluctuating but I want this to be automated.

@@zm2813 I see! Sorry, I misunderstood. I don't know of a way to do this I'm afraid.
