This video helped me greatly, not sure if anyone of you experienced this.. everything was running fine and suddenly the PDF file was corrupted. I resolved this by removing the "base64()" expression and remove the double quotes (this -> " ). In the array i just use dynamic content and select the file content. It worked properly and well after that. No file corruptions.
THANKSSSSSS JON!!! I;ve been looking for this solution and watched your first one but it only has one attachment. So started to look for other videos here in youtube but now... I'm all good!!! Thanks!!! U D MAN!!! :)
So I switched the form to a group and killed my flow. I got it back working and sending the attachments but they won't actually open from the email (file not support error). Any suggestions?@@JonJLevesque
Great Tutorial guys! But, I'm having an issue with the attachments sent. It all runs perfectly fine with the flow, but when I try to open the attachments it says that the files (PDF, Excel ...) are corrupted. Can someone help me?
Really wonderful video!!!! Really appreciate your job!! I just have a question if I need to attach a word populate document, is there any way to attach it in the same email?
Really great job, thanks Yash and Jon. Is there an idea to colleact all attachments in multi forms filed that includes multi attachments per each filed :)?
This worked like a treat until I tried to pull the files variable into an approval. Do I need to change the expression associated with the variable? When I followed the tutorial part 1, I could attach the file all the way through the approval cycle. Thanks!! :)
When I input the base64 expression it gets saved successfully but when I check and edit the flow again it automatically change to file content only, not sure why this is happening. I can receive multiple emails but when I open them they are corrupted for some reason. I hope you can help me....
@Jon @Yash please can you Answer this - The issue I am having is the attachments are coming through with the email though I get the message to say that it cannot open as it is either an unsupported file type or the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). Any assistance would be appreciated as I do not know where to start with resolving this issue.
@@trevorway6281 , @rajesh Please try passing the file content directly to the "ContentBytes" or the "content" keys. Based on the action from where file content is coming from, the schema may change.
Thank you for the walk thru, I'm getting the emails but not my attachments, and im not seeing any breaks and having successful runs thru power automate any suggestions?
Can you also show the way to upload multiple files using Power Automator(Flow) input and attached those as an email attachment? (or list all of the files in the body as a list in a case of attachment or sharable links for the body text of the email)
Thank you Jon and Yash. I found this very helpful. However, I have a concern - at the last step, I tried creating an approval and added the 'files' but my flow failed. I also noticed that when you use the send email V3 it only adds one attachment NOT multiple. Also, when you use send email with options, the email gotten doesn't come with the attachments. Can we have a video where multiple attachments from Microsoft Forms can be attached to an Approval on Microsoft Flow? If you have one already, please reply this comment with the link
Thanks for this video. It is really useful. I would like to know if I would like to pass the attachment to a SharePoint List, can you show us how to do that?
If you create a SharePoint item immediately after getting MS Form response details and then "Add Attachment" immediately after "Append to array variable" within that "Apply to each" loop, it will work.

Great info! I wanted to know how I would adjust this flow to send an approval request instead of just an email - with all the attachments. I keep getting an error "There's an error in your flow preventing the creation of Approvals. Use the link below to learn more about the errors with your flow and/or environment configuration" after adding the approval and using "files" in the attachments.
I have this working for one form; and it is great! I created another form and copied the flow but wanted to add conditions based on answers in the form. There are three separate conditions. The email sends properly. But the attachments are not...would I add the scope to each condition?
help in error : he 'inputs.parameters' of workflow operation 'Send_an_email_(V2)' of type 'OpenApiConnection' is not valid. Error details: The API operation 'SendEmailV2' is missing required property 'emailMessage/Attachments/0/ContentBytes'.
Hi sir, I have tried this flow and my flow was success but when I try to open the file attachment (excel sheet) in mail it gives the error message file format may not be matching with the file extension. Please help me to solve this ...
Thanks for the tutorial. It was super helpful! I have an issue though. In my form, I have multiple fields for attachments. All of them show up in the sharepoint documents folder except for one. Why would only one not be showing up? I can't map the flow if I can't find the attachment. Thanks for your help.
My file are soming through as multiple attachments, but when I click to open them I get this error: "Cannot open file: "c:\Users\Joe\AppData..........pdf" Any help on this?
Same. Everything works great, except the file. I am thinking it is sending everything but the content. We did add Name and ContentBytes but still sending unreadable file. Help
@@iwanttolearn496 Oh man. Where do I start. I tried everything. Eventually I did fix it. Within the Apply to each I used Get file Metadata > Get File Content > Append to array variable. So I am not sure exactly what fixed it but I am thinking a combination of File Metadata and also verify in your flow you have set the attachment size limit to 1GB. I used an RU-vid video to help me. @cvkealey Chad Kealey "Power Automate and Microsoft Forms: Send uploaded files as email attachments". Good luck
Hi Jon, in the video (Append to array variable), the example for the base64 code is base64(body("Get... when I follow it I get base64(outputs("Get... I'm then getting a 'Enter a valid json.
I have a ms forms in which people upload the files. I need to fetch the content of this file which has been uploaded. And move it the content to another Excel spreadsheet or SharePoint list please help me to achieve this
I followed this only using sharepoint get file content instead of one drive, however when I get to the email section I can't add the variable to the attachments... Send email V3, great video though!
Seems to be only internal. Forms do not allows external/anonymous users to upload files. Just sent a note on microsofts user voice page about it. There is a pool asking for votes there. Here is the link microsoftforms.uservoice.com/forums/386451-welcome-to-microsoft-forms-suggestion-box/suggestions/39933964-external-users-be-able-to-upload-files
Thanks Jon and Yash. Super helpful but I'm trying to do a slight variation of what you've done and I'm struggling. Instead of attaching the multiple files, I want to output a clickable hyperlink to each file (which is stored in OneDrive). I want the hyperlink to consist of the filename and the URL of the file. I can do the above for single files, but can't work out how to do it for multiple. Any advice would be appreciated!
HELLO....WHAT IF I WANT TO SAVE THE ATTACHMENT ARRAY INTO A SHAREPOINT ITEM? IF I USE THE "ADD ATACHMENT" IT SEENS IT ONLY ALLOW STRING AND NOT ARRAYS...i need to save multiple attachment from my MS Forms response in my shrepoint list, not only send an email
Hello, I followed your previous videos on forms attachments. I have a flow built to create a list item in SharePoint and send an email with attachment and it works with 1 attachment only. I tried to follow this video to adjust my current flow but when I try to open the attachment in the email it says "It appears we don't support this file format" can you please help me with this? Also could you advise what needs to be changed in the "create item" and "Add attachment" parts of the flow for the multiple attachments?
Didn't work...Yes, it attached the file (JPG), but computer couldn't open it as it was not recognized. I can even download the file (correct name, extension, etc.), but it does the same thing.
Everything flows just fine but the emailed attachments are broken and I can't figure it out. "We couldn't open the image file." The thumbnails are there but I can't open. Could this be because of my Onedrive? Thanks
I followed the video and I have it working..only problem is that I can't get the attachments to open from the email in outlook. I can click on the link from gmail and view the file but can't download it. I can click on the link from my iphone but I can't download it. I cant do anything from outlook in o365. any ideas?
This is great, I was able to replicate but cannot make it work to attach in a "Start and wait for an approval". Any thoughts? This was the error details: The request failed. Error code: 'InvalidRequestContent'. Error Message: 'The request content was invalid and could not be deserialized: 'Could not find member 'ContentBytes' on object of type 'ApprovalsConnectorAttachment'. Path 'attachments[0].ContentBytes', line 1, position 1213.'.'.
I am pretty sure I followed the video step by step and I am having an issue where the attachments are not coming on the email. Any idea why that might happen?
This to me seems like a bit of a hack. As file attachments are now a standard feature of Forms, the Get Responses action should surface the attachments if present like any other dynamic content. This Parse JSON then store the attachments as base64 data in an array variable is unnecessarily complicated, imho. Great video, though, definitely solves the problem. Yash> you are a demon on that keyboard, sir!
Hello, fist of all, awesome video, very very nice, simple and usefull solution, but i've tried to use on a approval with multiple attachments, but its dosent work, send an email action works clean and nice with all attchments, the approval give me the error below: The request failed. Error code: 'InvalidRequestContent'. Error Message: 'The request content was invalid and could not be deserialized: 'Could not find member 'ContentBytes' on object of type 'ApprovalsConnectorAttachment'. Path 'attachments[0].ContentBytes', line 1, position 972.'.'. do you think actualy that method dosent work on Start and wait for an approval´s action?? Thanks a lot once again, great video, great explanation.
Thanks Jon! However, just like the rest. The attachments are sent via email but its no longer viewable. The expressions base64() doesn't work. It always revert back to outputs('Get_file_content_using_path')?['body'] Hope you can answer this, otherwise we could not use this tutorial at all.
SOLVED: I was able to resolve it by removing the base64() expression and the double quotes. In the array just use the dynamic content = File content (color blue text)
Ah, I lost connection between one of my Forms to my OneDrive. One question in a Form that has option for users to upload files is not working, users can't upload. How to restore this connection? Anybody?
I solved the issue of the documents not opening by removing the base64 in the array. I read through the post and don't see anyone else mentioning this - When it sends the email - I get the same number of emails as the number of attachments - each email has a varying number of pictures. The final email has all the pictures though. Anyone else have this issue and solve it?
This is excellent, thank you. The issue I am having is the attachments are coming through with the email though I get the message to say that it cannot open as it is either an unsupported file type or the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). Any assistance would be appreciated as I do not know where to start with resolving this issue.
Thanks guys! My workflow runs without error and the email appears with the attachment. But the attached file is always corrupt and will not open. Suggestions?
I'm having a few issues getting this to work. When the flow runs I get the following error message. Any ideas on how to fix. The request failed. Error code: 'InvalidRequestContent'. Error Message: 'The request content was invalid and could not be deserialized: 'Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: {. Path 'attachments[0].Content', line 1, position 1202.'.'.
I believe that there must be some error while creating the array of attachments. I would highly recommend you drop a post here (powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Power-Automate/ct-p/MPACommunity ) so we can better identify the issue and help with this.
Another solution: instead of using get file content using path, try get file content and simply pass the id. I could not get my flow to work for the life of me using the method outlined in this video.
