Awesome bro. I spent 2 days trying to figure out a solution to this problem and ultimately found your video that explained it so well. Just one request, can you please explain how does this method work, it worked but I am unable to understand the logic behind the working of SELECT action and then also why did we mention CLAIMS in select action, we could have mentioned anything else.
@Enea
@Enea 13 дней назад
Happy it worked! The select action is needed because the multipeople picker control in SharePoint expects a table. By using select you create a table in a JSON format with key:value pairs. In this case the key is claims and the values are dynamically populated from the array items. Why we use claims is because the control needs some kind of unique identifier to find the user and that is claims. Havent tested it with display name but I imagine it wont work since display name can be similar between multiple employees, claims cannot. Hope this helps

Hi there, I appreciate your content. Its really helpful. Can I please request an upload or guidance on how to manage when the questions 2 has multiple selections allowed? So for the same customer, we can have option 1 and Option 2. And I would like to notify both the owners of option 1 and 2 separately.

Great video this really helped me. Do you need to keep the Compose variable action after the Apply to each and before the Select Action? It seems like its not used. Or am i wrong?
@Enea
@Enea Год назад
Thanks! Yes the compose was just to better show the output of the variable and to demonstrate the error. Since we then use the select action, the compose is unnecessary, you are right :)

Hi Enea, nice video, I have couple of questions, 1st, Owners List column "Owners" is a people picker or single line of text? 2nd question, Test List, column "Question 2", is single line of text or choice column? I appreciate your assistance, thank you
@Enea
@Enea 8 месяцев назад
Thanks! Its a people picker, you see it when I hold my mouse over the name and it pops up the info of the user from Delve (4:22). As for "Question2" I am not sure since I cannot find the list anymore (its been >2 years) but since I am using Option 1, Option 2... it will be 99% a choice column. Hope this helps

@@Enea Thanks for your reply! :) I have 2 SP Lists, main list is a Request and the other Delegation list (approvers log their time away here). I have a flow that triggers when a new item is created or modified (on the main list) sends approval to the approvers (multi-select person column) in the order their names where added. I use Start and Wait for Approval - first to respond. I want to check if the first approver is away using the Delegation list (columns here are delegate to single-person column, start date, end date, crated by). If yes get the assigned backup and update my main list multi-person column. Repeat this step for all the next approvers. Appreciate your help! I’m stuck here. 🙏

I commented an issue... don't see it anymore.. but Found the reason. My update item action was in a 'for each' loop for some reason. Noticed video did not show a looped action. I deleted it and re-entered the update item action and it works! Thank you for the video, very helpful...but because of version changes, some things showed differently at my end... had to spend a lot of time to figure some things out. Also needed to know how to pick right field to get email in proper case as my sharepoint doesn't take lower case input when email has upper case letters.

@@Enea Sorry just a quick question if i may. How would you do to send an email to all the selected owners (in your case) in once ? So, let's say that the next step in your flow is to send an email to the 3 guys added in your Owner column for option 1. I guess it's not that straight forward with multiple person values?
@Enea
@Enea 2 года назад
@@jsgahylle8341 actually it is, you need to create a variable at the top and o save the recipients. It should be an array. Then after you have the three people like in my flow, you do an append to variable. This will become an apply to each and with each run will append the variable with the email of the user. At the end you should have a variable of type array with the emails separated with a semicolon. Then you can put the variable in the recipient field of your send email action. Hope it makes sense

Enea - one of a kind tutorial thank you! I am hoping you may help. I followed everything through. Select output looks right but updating the item ( person column - allow multiple choices on) and still "The specified user ---- could not be found" ). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Enea
@Enea 2 года назад
Hi, thanks for the feedback. Try entering the user manually in SharePoint and see what the column expects. Them check the failed run of your flow and see what the flow is trying to enter in the column. If its the same then the user really doesn’t exist. If not then try to make your flow enter the user the same way the column does it. Usually is the user email address written in lower case.

Hi, awesome video! I am trying to do basically the same but instead of looking at the value in another list, the value is located in a library column.. How can I do that?
@Enea
@Enea 2 года назад
Thanks Alda! You need to get the file metadata from the library. In a SharePoint List you get the item, in a Library you get the file and its metadata. Pretty much the same, just different actions in Power Automate. Feel free to subscribe and like the video if you liked it, would help the channel a lot :)

So I've been playing with this. I've been using a string variable instead of an array. It seems to work OK, as long as you add semicolon + space after the mail field in the append step. So it's "[mail]; " I can also skip the Select step. I seem to get fewer failures for blank values and other weird errors. Is there something I'm missing about using string variable vs array?
@Enea
@Enea Год назад
I have not tested it with string variable, instead I went directly with an array since thats usually the data format needed for such operations.

Initialize an array variable and then do an append to string of the emails and separate them with a semicolon. Then put the variable in the recipient field. Should work

Question: When I do the step at 2:51, power automate wants to add an "apply to each" which is throwing off the flow.. is there a reason why it's doing this?
