INDEX is more about creating multiple subgroups within current data and applying sequence as per defined order Though you can use it for finding the current and previous day, that is not the proper use case for it As explained, its more suitable for picking value from a particular position within these subgroups within your overall data, more like ROW_NUMBER function available in T-SQL
