In the Power BI May update, Microsoft introduces 'Layouts for Matrix.' You can now choose from compact, outline, or tabular layouts to organize components similarly to Excel. With these new layout options, report creators can design custom patterns by repeating row headers. This feature, inspired by Excel’s PivotTable layout, allows for creating a matrix that mimics the look and feel of a table. This enhancement offers greater flexibility and brings Excel’s intuitive design to Power BI’s matrix visuals. Please note, this feature is available only for Outline and Tabular layouts
To better align with Excel’s functionality, report creators can now insert blank rows within the matrix. This feature allows for the separation of higher-level row header categories, significantly enhancing the report's readability. It’s a thoughtful addition that improves clarity and organization in Power BI’s matrix visuals and paves the way for future enhancements for totals/subtotals and row/column headers.
