@@Astrothunderkat Yeah, I figured. So is RDA pretty much. I don't mind the actors having Left leaning politics so long as they don't use their acting work itself as a political platform. I've never noticed Shanks or Anderson pushing politics in any particular heavy handed way. One might find minor examples, but it has never overshadowed everything else. What politics they support on their own time is their business as far as I'm concerned, they just shouldn't allow personal politics to dictate the stories of the show.

Not sure what it is with Hollywood. Andromeda started out as a great premise and an upbeat show with humour then it went dark! Don't they realise we watch them to be entertained no depressed?

@@lauriestlyon8773 I think it's a sort of obsession with being "adult" which really doesn't age well, because the only universal thing for humans is childlike humor, wonder and excitement. That is what I like about SG1 (what Lexa was saying more or less), it expands my mind imaginatively but/and/also has normal day to day drama that is not pushed or shoved into you sort of. SG1 was the first Sci-fi show I think that also made me roll on the floor laughing and a minute or two later you could shed a tear. Love Star-trek to bits, but it was not as fun as SG1 (or Atlantis which I also loved!). The only show today that sort of have that vibe is Seths "The Orville". Would love to have Strange New Worlds working out also but the 3-4 episodes I have watched does not really do it for me (Anson Mount is good so I have still hopes for it though). Then again my fav Star-trek is TNG and yes the first 2 seasons are not that great either... so I guess I have to give it some more time... If a SG series would startup again I would love it, but I do think my to high expectations will probably sadly ruin it. Remember a girl friend that was not into Sci-fi at all... she always said it was not believable... so I had to watch romantic movies like "Notting Hill" for example... When I explained that I don't think that movie (for example) is believable either she just looked at me with strange eyes...

If I read this 2 years ago, I maybe would say yes. But today Star Trek Discovery is actually doing the same thing for the current generation. The problem is that we relied on our childhood or youth and that everything was fantastic. Now, we are older and our imagination isn't working that great anymore, and it becomes harder to attach to series than we used to do. So, anything modern is automatically written off and everything from our youth was the best. And to be honest, that has nothing to do with the quality of todays sci-fi, but everything to do with yourself and your forced nostalgia. ( I know what you mean, though. But it is close minded ) Open your mind and a lot of things becomes like they were used too. Like I said, Star Trek Discovery is actually just as great and turns to be even better. The serie 'Lost in Space' has only one season and there is another in the making which is also a great one. Moviewise, Interstellar was great. And there are many others that could be mentioned. You see, there are plenty of stuff to choose from. It's just between a bigger pile of sci-fi series. Don't let nostalgia dictates your entertainment value for the rest of your life...

@OzarkoBlam It wasn't glorious I give you that. Call it trash however is really too harsh. Characters were trash, actors were great. Mentality was trash, ambiance was great. Season 1 geopolitics weren't that bad. Season 1 story was quite good for science freaks sci fi fans, we kinda found a similar "research technological progress" we were all fond of in SGA. Season 2 was really trash. And it was visually stunning, even though they overdid it on biomes & nature things. Sure it wasn't great, but I'm not gonna complain for a sci fi tv show with great sfx in 2019. The Expanse is by far the greatest show of sf now anyway. Discovery is just peanuts

Was great seeing them both again, and I particularly agree with what Michael said about SG-1 and (Classic) Trek sharing this more optimistic forward-facing tone. @ChibiHoshiDragon 5 лет назад
@Marcus Knightingale thehehe. I never said anything about quality. I was only talking about TONE. I mean DS9 was dark. But then again Roddenberry didn't much like ST:II or the script for VI. He would have not liked Sisko being The Prophet. Or the Dominion War. BSG hold the same ideals that he would have disliked. And given that they almost tried to get a connection from an inhabited planet, SGU wasn't very diplomatic.

Michael Shanks looked tired, but they both appear happy. It's great to see them pleased with Stargate, their characters, and the fans. I thank them both for their time, sharing their opinions and memories with us fans, who love the shows so much. Way to go Darren and David and others, keeping our interest going after all these years. Also, listen to what Lexa Doig says starting at around 17:00 minutes, regarding Stargate's success.

I thought that Heroes was such a poor episode, lazy writing, and such a terrible way to treat Teryl, we hardly saw her during her "death scene", surely they could have come up with a better way than that, or better still, don't kill beloved characters off.

As shocked as we may be, it's important to allow Shanks to age. Shocking for us but probably healthier both physically and mentally for him.

I would love to see them all make an anniversary or special single episode of StarGate where the original Sg1 has to save the planet again. Michael Shanks and Richard D. Andersonand even Amanda Tapping has aged, but Christoffer Judge looks almost the same. It would fit perfectly!
@Racistobama
@Racistobama 4 года назад
Anderson's acting days are pretty much over I think..he's not looking good at all. Tapping looks regal in the dawn of her senior years and both Shanks and Judge could easily lose five years with a little cosmetic wizardry.
