Very clever, haven't seen that before. How do you prevent the little plate from sliding? Double sided tape or something? Edit oh I see, you have a little lip at the back end of the plate. Very clever!

I had screwed and glued a block onto the end, but I am careful to inspect it for wear and tear. It has been ripped apart before and the screws can be dragged forward towards the cutter block. On the Felder line of jointers only have around 6mm of depth of cut so the board is thin. On past jointers I could almost use a ½ Inch thick pieces of mdf. So the screws would not pull through as easily.

So you mean to tell me even a 20” jointer isn’t enough?

It seems at first it is not, but the technique shown will get you to maybe 40” if you use both sides of the jointer to overhang your board. To which I have grinded down the other side of the casting to do just that. If you mounted the power feeder with no obstruction of the board, you could theoretically go as wide as you wanted. Each successive pass of ten inches clears way for those ten inches of resting on the infeed table creating another ten inches of flat. So in fact a 20" jointer is all you need. The shop has not had a large enough board that this machine has not flattened
